Does anyone know of any type of plastic or rubber plug that would fit into the screw holes on an E4 stock?  As nice as the Ratworx covers are, I just see added weight and expense there.  I just want something I can push into the holes that can be removed if I ever decide I need to mount my rails back on the stock.  I may make a trip to Lowes and see what I can find.

You should be able to find little plastic 1/4x20 cap screws at just about any auto parts store.

Automotive "connectors" for GM vehicles fit nicely after you cut off the excess.  they are the black plastic plugs that are used to hold in headliners, plastic parts, etc.

They have them at Lowe's in the connectors section in the "specialty" drawers.

That's where I found ours.

That's where I got the idea...  You just didn't remember what size they were when you posted about it some time back, so I bought a handful of different sizes (at $0.25 each ) and tried them all until I found the one that fit.

I really wish I could remember what size they were. I need 3 more for Jenns STG now. I may have to take her receiver in and see what I can find. The bad thing is that the little plugs are in bags and it makes it hard to size them up without tearing open the bags which I hate to do if I am not paying for all of them.

I may run up to ACE and see if they have the loose plugs.

Anyone interested in going on a parts run for me?  I only have one parts store in town, then everything else is 305 miles away.

I did a search online but can't find that particular part number in the picture.  I see other part numbers at Lowes.com but there is no description as to size.

Any takers?

I used that same pic and went to my local Ace Hardware and found the exact plugs using the part numbers. I can look tomorrow morning when I get home. I also purchased on line some hex head cap screws that match the accessory rail screws perfectly just a little shorter. If you want the plastic plugs i'll send them to you. I thought the plastic plugs were a little too loose so I used the hex head screws.
PM me with your info and how many you want and i'll send them if you want.

That would be awesome.  I have two E4s and a spare stock so I would need 36.

If you can do it just let me know what they cost and the postage.

Along with the Hillman brand product NAPA also sells  the NAPA "Balkamp" brand 10 pack of retainers item # 665-1436.
MT... they are on the way.

I bought the Hillman plugs and noticed that they were a little loose so I wrapped some Teflon tape around them and now they are nice and tight. I had to screw them in with my thumb and downward pressure to get them in.

Just a tip if any of you are OCD like me.

I picked up some button socket cap screws from Fastenal (part # 24711) for only 14 cents each.  The threaded length on these is only 1/4" long, so they don't protrude on the inside of the stock.  While not as flat as the plugs, they are more secure.

I was fortunate enough to get some free covers from Ratworx with my E4.  It also came with three extra torx head bolts.  I just used one of those to cover the only hole I had left open on the stock.
