The new US made AUG says .223 on it.  Is the rifle chambered in .223 or 5.56?

Yes it is good for 5.56.

It is chambered in 5.56...  They mark it in .223 for the same reason Colt marks the Match Target rifles 2.23 on the receiver, and that is to make the rifle more "politically correct"
