I have a Gen IV MSAR STG with E4 stock conversion. I have both a 16" and 20" barrel for it. It started its life with a Black STG stock and STG rail. I replaced the stock and rail with an E4 stock and E4 rail.
I have been running a Elcan Red dot sight for a while which has been a nice sight. I have always love the traditional look of the 1.5X CQB optic, so I bought one of the low STG ones off the EE last week to try out.
I got in in the mail on Friday and mounted it Friday night. As I have read before, it is definately low. Not unusable but low. Was ok while scoping around the house Friday night and All day Saturday. Today, I made it to the range to sight it in and test it out. Once on the bench sighting is when I really see why everyone wants the higher E4 optic. While it is still quite usable, you do have to really get down on the stock for good sight picture. My earmuffs got in the way a few times untilI figured out the right positioning. Took my only 7 shots to sight it in at 50 yds. In addition to some Black hills 75 grain, I have been shooting the 75 grain Wolf Hp out of my MSAR with decent results. Flame me all you want, but it has been great jack rabbit ammo and is cheaper fun than my other ammo (and until the rabbits start shooting back, Wolf is just fine for me). As with the day I bought this rifle, all rounds cycled just right. I am currently using 20 and 30 round Pmags with no issues. I was shooing the 16" barrel today with vortex FH. During a previous trip to the range I chronographed this 75gr Wolf at 2625 ft/s from the 16" barrel and 2775 ft/s out of the 20" barrel.
I personally like to shot with a scope over a reddot. I like reddots but would rather have a reticle. The reticle on the STG optic is nice. I do want more magnification though. Maybe 3x or 4X. Anyway, back to the shooting. After sighting, I fired 6 shots at 50 yds at a 2"X2" square target. Makes me feel good when all shots are in the black even if only at 50yds!!!! See my target below. This will do quite nicely on a rabbit!!!! It was rather windy today so I didn't shot at 100yds. Next weekend. My wife has granted me my father's day wish for next weekend and is allowing me the whole day at the range if I want!!
I will play with this low STG sight a bit longer but may have to start watching for a higher E4 optic or maybe a Leupold CQT or similar.
That is the great thing about guns, always something else to try next!!! Just need to make more time and more $$$.

Good report. It might not look as cool as the E4 optic, but take a look at the Millet DMS for your E4. It is a lot of optic for the money.
