I've always wondered why the STG556 was so loud for my right ear while dry firing. I pulled off the buttpad and pinned the hammer pack in place and pulled the trigger. It appears that my hammer not only strikes the firing pin but it also hits the top of the stock inside. It looks like the hammer is 1-2mm too tall when released. I also double checked the STG with a Steyr hammer pack and the Steyr hammer clears the frame inside. My STG556 is a Gen 1. Does everyones MSAR have this problem? Please check you rifes for me and check if the hammer spurs hits the roof when it is released. see pic
