VHS Assault Rifle

It would be sweet if Springfield would import them and make the 10 compliance parts here.

Pretty much a Famas rip off.

As a civilian rifle, it would be interesting.  But as a military rifle, it's obsolete.  That carry handle/sight arrangement doesn't look to be detachable.  So mounting optics, night vision, etc. are tough.  No rails on the handguard or anywhere else, so good luck with a laser or light.

Looks smaller and lighter than the FAMAS. If it had a rail with BUIS instead of the obsolete carry handle design I'd want one.

Is it made at the same place that manufactures Springfield's XD line? I thought I saw a guy handling a xd frame in the factory...

It would be interesting to see Springfield import and sell them, it wouldn't be without precedent, they've done that with FALs and G3s before.

Although the controls and external appearance (sights, carry handle) are similar to the famas, The internal operation is completely different than a famas.

I'm sorry, I was too busy drooling over the croatian chicks

But seriously, springfield might be able to make some cash off of this. The only down side I can see is lack of mounting options.

After the 1989 imported weapons ban, Springfield was only able to import FAL's and G3's only if they were sold in the US with thumbhole stocks and that was until the Clinton AWB of 1994.

The only way the VHS could be sold in the US is if the total imported parts count is under 10 and Springfield would make the remainder of the parts in the US. Like the Tavor, it cannot be imported into the US since it would have at least two "evil and non-sporting features", which would be the detachable mag and pistol grip.

Don't be surprised if a M1913 rail-equipped version of the VHS comes out later.

Just look at the F2000. The M1913 rail-equipped version came out later after the F2000 with the optic first came out. BTW, I'm referring to the military versions, not the civilian FS2000 versions.

I am sure it wouldn't be too hard to add a rail. Does anyone know what kind operating system is in the gun? Since it is in the former

yugoslavia, I would assume that it would be an AK type action which would make importation and compliance with 922(r) a whole hell

of a lot easier.

Edit: I looked at that modern guns russian site, and it appears that the operating system is some kind of generic piston type. It does look

pretty cool and it is made by HS product who also make the XD. It might be worthwhile for Springfield if the economics make any sense;

a bullpup under $1000 would be quite awesome. It would be a easy way for Springfield to add a .223/5.56 gun to their lineup without it being

another AR-15 type!

Considering XD pistols retail for over $100 more than Glocks around here, I highly doubt this would come in at under $1000.00. Just sayin'
