Anyone experience anything similar to this?

I purchased brand new (black) 42 round magazines approximately 2 months ago at Cal's Sporting Armory. I haven't been able to shoot, so none were loaded. I loaded 3 last evening in hopes of hitting the range this upcoming weekend. A few hours later, I heard a metallic clinking noise from my gun room, and upon investigating found the first 7 rounds had self ejected from one particular 42 rounder while it was sitting on the floor.

I've reloaded it twice more since then, once to full 42 round capacity and once downloaded to 40 rounds. Within several hours of loading the magazine, I can return to the room to find 4-7 cartridges on the floor in front of the magazine where they've ejected.

Any ideas?

I really want to see that mag.  If you send it to me I will replace it with several 42 rounders.

It just wants some attention.

I was thinking it was protesting the fact that I dared load it with Wolf for the range! I haven't tried loading any brass ammo into this particular magazine, but the others I purchased are holding the Wolf in just fine. I reloaded this self unloader one more time upon creating this thread, and it's released 3 rounds so far in the few hours since.

Dave, I'll shoot you a PM to facilitate you receiving this magazine. Thanks for your service as always.

Maybe it needs more fiber in its diet.  Try some Metamucil.

Wow! I've got 9 42rd amber mags that have been loaded w/40rds each for over a year and haven't had any "spontaneous ejections".

Here's the miscreant's latest offering: 6 rounds ejected while sitting on a soft (ugly..lol) blanket on the floor.
I have no doubt it's an anomaly, I think it may be possessed!

Try loading the mag again and then check for spreading of the feedlips. Perhaps there's a hairline crack that's spreading under the pressure and releasing the rds.
Keep us posted!...

Maybe it's Wolf ammo saying, "NO, don't shoot me in your expensive rifle!!!"

Maybe the libs are right.  High cap mags ARE EVIL!!!!!!!!.

PS:  I hope that was originally a green blanket and something was standing over it when it got shot.

That's harsh man! hehe

Those blankets were clearance priced (imagine that!) and work well to keep accessories and magazines off the closet floor.... although it would make a fantastic new color offering for the Snuggie. ®
The possessed mag should arrive to Dave on Monday, maybe he can excise the demons it holds!

So what ever happened with your mag?  Did it need Holy Water?  Exorcism?  Hire a hobbit to throw it in a volcano?

H1N1?

It's having thoughts of a .gov health care system?
