| I was thinking of buying one. I have a five seven pistol and an ar 5.7 rifle. I need some input from owners and past owners. This is a big investment for me. I have the mags and ammo. Just need to know if the rifle is worth it. I see plenty of them for sale used. Just wonder if they are a big let down. The rifle I was looking at was 1744.00 plus tax with one fifty round mag. I know alot of money but, are'nt they all. Thanks |

This should be in the bull pup forum.
But, I bought a PS90 off gunbroker for $1450 plus $25 shipping right after they came out. Great rifle for what they are. Short - handy - light - high capacity. They are a little under powered for hunting anything bigger than a coyote. With a fifty round mag full of ammo you will get bored shooting it before you have to reload. Accuracy is surprisingly good, half inch groups with the secret service sight at 50 yards with lead free ammo. Since the bullet is moving out the bore so fast you don't have to worry near as much about bullet drop under a hundred yards. For over a hundred yards I would suggest a bigger gun. Great varmint gun and deadly on coyotes. I bought the Five Seven pistol to go with it. Feels like an air soft gun but is also real accurate. Punches nice small holes and you can hit coke cans at 50 yards. Every time if you hold it steady. |

You probably see them for sale right now by owners because of the price to feed it. That ammo was expensive when the gun came out. Its got to be worse now. Just picked up a 2K case for $750 shipped, works out to $375/K, about the same as quality .223 now (or less, looking at current prices... Tomac |

Great home defense firearms particularly for inexperienced shooters or those who are recoil or muzzle report adverse. I highly recommend the PS90 for people looking to provide home defense to women shooters or have a great concern about over-penetration.
I would highly suggest the following: 1) Purchase a PS90 Extended Charging Handle: http://www.fseusa.com/product_info.php?cPath=104&products_id=345. 2) Obtain the REM 3 from Magazine Parts if you get the factory sight. These things are awesome and solve the problem of the "white out" that can happen with just the stock factory sight. Heck of a lot cheaper as well than buying an aimpoint or some after market optic for a tri-rail PS90. http://magazineparts.com/productDisplay.php?id=REM2 3) Purchase for HOME Defense use the ProtecTor 5.7x28mm from Elite Ammunition. You can youtube elite ammo and see their tests for yourself. Ask around with other PS90 owners their ammo is good-to-go and safe for use. 4) Be careful when reloading just like all firearms a high pressure load can cause a KB and that will shred your magazine that is right near your face making you not so pretty. 5) Avoid high priced junk like the quad-rail or faux suppressors. Stick with normal side accessory rails and get a combination laser/flashlight like a Streamlight TLR-2 or the new Insight WXL150 light. 6) If you can SBR...SBR. This firearm was designed to be about 10.5" or so and this round was designed for that. The added bonus though to the 16" barrel is the higher velocity you'll get so know that. It's a fun little firearm. Well worth the cost in my opinion. Know a guy that just purchased his for $1,650 after shipping and FFL transfer fee. |
I bought one and they are way too much fun! It's basically like shooting a high capacity 22 mag. Follow up shots are crazy fast and barely any muzzle blast with the 16" barrel. I absolutely love mine! I wasn't sure about the factory sight at first but now it's grown on me. I can't decide if the PS90 or MSAR is going to be my primary gun for home defense. I'm really hooked on bullpups now after owning a couple. In MI we can't SBR so the bullpups are the only answer. I still have my mossberg 590 but it may take a back seat to either of the bullpups for home defense. I do like the fact it's unlikely I'll be penetrating through the whole house with the PS90, don't know if I'm completely sold on the round for home defense though? I'm going to try and shoot some critters with it this fall and keep researching the round, it seems like it would be effective ballistically, but real world may differ. I'm not sure where people are finding ammo more expensive than other rounds? Ballistic tip 50 round boxes for $20 is cheaper than ballistic tipped .223 ammo in 20 round boxes!
