Please excuse the mess as I'm trying to get all this unpacked.

I'm in need of light for this bench. This is an upstairs bed room that I've made into my reloading room. The only way to get electric to this bench is via a plug behind the red 5 gallon bucket and this part of the atic not able to be accessed to run another light fixture over head.

I'm thinking self adhesive led lighting ran down the ridge of the ceiling but open to suggestions. Attached File

I recently bought a 36" two bulb shop light at Costco that really throws good illumination. It was maybe $40.

Cord is about 5-6'. Run a power strip from your outlet up to the top of that peg board and plug into that.

Light comes with hardware that you can mount in that ceiling.

If it were me, I would put presses on the left side and get rid of all of that space wasting pegboard and build simple shelf's out of 1x6's to replace the pegboard. Also install drawers on the underside of the bench top.

Easy that way to mount an overhead fluorescent fixture on the flat ceiling. If that's the attic above the ceiling, I would run all wires in the attic.

Install an extension of the existing circuit from the existing lighting circuit. If you don't do electrical work, hire a contractor.

What he said.

Go to Home Depot, Lowes, or an electrical supply house and tell them you need an overhead LED fixture with a conventional 120v wall plug.

The only access now is through 18" spider hole on the opposite side of the room in the attic. I ain't about to climb on my belly in a 150 degree attic for a single strand of Romex.
I can continue the circuit up but trying to weave a line through insulation might be a fun task. And I'm not exactly sure what's up there as far as framing goes that may hinder running the line. Again, it's an 18" gap that I can't fit through.

I'm guessing they can be daisy chained together? One for the right side and one for the left side?

Possibly - there's a ton of them available in various configurations.

After you get a good overhead light for general lighting of your area, you could also kill two birds with one stone and get an Adjustable Magnifier Desk Lamp like this at WalMart for about $42.

Not only does it allow you to throw the light specifically where you need it, it's also great for seeing those small parts more clearly.  I use mine all the time.

I like that. I'm assembling ar lowers for my buddy and sometimes those little parts are hard to see.

They have them at Sam's Club, too, if any of you happen to be members.

You can run surface-mounted, rigid conduit to place junction boxes wherever you need/want them.  This would allow the use of overhead lighting fixtures and outlets anywhere.

Fluorescent lights or LED equivalents should be used overhead to establish your ambient light level.  Use the fixture shown above, for specific tasks/locations.

It's a work space, a reloading room, it doesn't have to have hidden wiring.

You need to completely rethink that layout.  For example, move the Acro bins to uncover the window.

Ok, attic out, it was a thought.

But do consider using the left side as it will be easier to mount a light flat on the ceiling.

Consider shelf's instead of the space wasting pegboard.

I like my pegboard behind my bench, but the wall was purpose built with plugs in it for various things to be hooked up, one thing you can do if your pegboard it tall enough and you can reach a plug with a hanging light, is they make brackets that you can mount the light to right over the bench.

I run a double tubed 4 foot LED light above my bench, then I have six 4 footers on the ceiling to throw plenty of light in the room.

An extension cord, then an outlet strip, then as many of these or similar LED fixtures..

The light output is extremely bright, so buy one and try first . . . then buy another only if needed.

These are what I just added to new garage:

https://m.costco.com/Feit-Electric-4%e2%80%99-Linkable-LED-Shop-Light-with-Pull-Chain%2c-2-pack.product.100284402.html

It's a 2 pack.

I bought it a month ago.. Then a week later it was $20 off (as does everything I buy from Costco). I am sure it will be again soon.

I ran metal conduit, switches, and plugs but again, this is a garage (not bedroom) so I would go with extension cord, etc.
