This is my second day using it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but the priming system is flipping the primers on its side and jamming the machine. It is also flipping them upside down. How can I fix this?

I am using CCI 500 small pistol primers.Attached File

Is that a large primer plate? They shouldn't be able to flip around.

Yep, looks like he forgot to change the plate.

I have never had concerns with mine, but I have taken and used a sharp countersink to lightly break the edges on the primer plate holes from where they been stamped to make hole

Nope, it's the small plate

Make sure the small primer magazine tube is installed.

Make sure you are using the correct feed tube.

What do we win if we guess right?
Not ALL primers are prime, some are choice, some are select. No wait, thats meat.

Damn, I must have missed that in the instructions. I still had the tube for large pistol primers in there.

Thanks for the help. I'm sure this will solve my problem. I'll use the correct one tomorrow.

If I had to pay every time I needed help or asked for advice I wouldn't be able to afford reloading supplies lol

I know op's question was answered,  but I will add my 650 experience as well.  Make sure the press, especially if you have a case feeder, is secure and stable.  Also, don't slam the the handle at the top and bottom stroke.  This will cause primers to flip. Jm2c.  Good luck with the press op!

I had my first hang up the other day with my new 650.

(large primers in .45acp.)

Turned out I had the shell plate timed just off center and it was rotating the primers and seating them sideways.

I'll second this.

Just finished up my first thousand 9mm and 500 5.56 from my 650 over the past couple of weeks and there was a learning curve on the smoothness of operating the machine compared to my 550B.

A consistent motion from top to bottom with no jerking or speeding up/slowing down until you start to feel the primer seat is key to making sure you aren't shaking the primers up and getting them sideways or upside down.

A sturdy(er) bench was also needed for the 650 vs the 550.

I know I get flack for this whenever I mention it, but this is just one of the reasons I prime offline before loading onto my XL650. (RCBS APS Bench priming system.)

I feel it is safer and more consistent and reliable. It gives me a chance to feel each primer and to inspect each one before loading onto the machine.

But it is definitely slower...

I've got to remember to order one of the large tubes next time I'm getting something.  That's the only thing I didn't get with my used 650.

No need to order one and pay.

Just send them an email via the tech support link on the website and tell them you need one as it didn't come with the machine. Include your address and they won't even have to ask you for it, just tell you it's on the way.

I learned how to configure my machine properly as spare time is not something I have a lot of.
