I am looking for your 9x19 Pet loads pushing a 115 grain plated round nose bullet using HP38/231.

I am looking for a mid range plinking/target load, not full power loads. I will double check your recommendations against my loading manuals.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have my notes in front of me, but I remember I used mid range jacketed loads and worked up.

W-231 is one of the powders I tried when I first started loading 9mm. It works ok.

But try True Blue when your supply of W-231 runs out, you can thank me later.

I started at minimum charge and got great groups. Honestly I don't see a need to move up for plinking 9mm ammo unless I'm missing something

4.4 grains HP38
115 Berry's RN
Mixed brass
CCI small pistol
Oal is 1.115" iirc but don't have data in front of me

I think I run 4.6 gr under a 115 RMR plated.  Full size 9 CZ.

I run 4.6 under a Zero 115 JHP Conical.  Gives me right about 1100 FPS from my 6" 1911 and shoots well at 50 yards.

FWIW my CZ75 liked 4.5gr of HP-38, COL 1.100" giving a MV of 1112. The next batch of HP-38 required 4.7gr to make it happy again. Bullet is Berrys 115gr PRN.

Honestly, IMO it's best to create sets of (eg) 5 cartridges working up every 0.2gr and use anothre set of factory if you have them. Shoot them all from a rest at a minimum of 10 yards comparing for recoil, ejection distance, POI vs POA if using iron sights, and accuracy. Then pick the one you like best for your own purposes. Every gun and shooter is different.

I use 4.7 gr Hp38 with 115 gr xtreme plated.

This ^^^^^

True Blue is the bees knees dude. The stuff flows like water in my Dillon.
Great stuff, when you can find it.

I just did a load workup with this. From 4.3 to 4.7g. 4.3g showed promise, but overall, 4.6g had the best group. This was out of a 16" PCC so YMMV. I'm happy enough with it to give it a go. Berry's 115g plated loaded to the recommended 1.130. Speer cases. CCI-500  primers.

4.3 gave me an average velocity of 1182
4.7 gave me an average velocity of 1372

I have another set to try in my wife's G17. The load I made up for my HK VP9 doesn't seem to reliably cycle her G17. That is a different powder and bullet though. The HK loves it.

Thanks for the info guys. It sounds like I should develop some test loads from about 4.3 to  4.7. I know the max is about 5.1 and I certainly don't need that for practice rounds.

Until I used up my 8lb jug of unobtanium (Win231) I was running 4.3gr for 9mm 115gr bullets. Now I am using Accurate #5, it seems to burn a little cleaner. FWIW I am shooting it out of a BHP.
