What comes in a caliber conversion?
Specifically wondering about the actual toolhead the dies thread into. It looks like all the buttons, sleeves, shell plate, etc. come with the conversion, but what about the actual toolhead? Do you have to buy a separate toolhead AND caliber conversion for each set of dies you want to set up? Thanks |

No.
Caliber conversion kits do not include a tool head. You do not need a tool head for every caliber you convert to. You could just buy die locking nuts like the Hornady sure loc nuts and setup you dies once then swap the dies in and out of the same tool head. Most users will buy a tool head per caliber for ease of swap over and some go further, myself included, and buy a quick change tool head kit which includes a head, powder measure and tool head stand. |

The caliber conversion doesn't have a die plate. The quick change has a die plate, powder measure and stand. All total for both is right at $200. |

A Caliber Conversion Kit is cartridge or family of cartridges specific.
Quick Change Kit is a tool head, powder measure with small and large charge bars and powder die, along with a tool head stand. (This, by the way, is a great value in that the tool head stand is darn near free.) Have to keep the terms correct. Reloaders tend to distort the terms! XL650 caliber conversion kits are not as versatile as the RL 550B conversions due to case feeder parts are different for different cartridges. |
