What is a good starting point .010 or deeper, I have set the shoulder back .002 and neck sized, this is on a 7MM mag I am not looking for sub MOA just a good

accurate hunting round.

Rule of thumb is at least one bullet diameter seated in mouth.

I'm assuming you mean off the lands. If this is the case and as you state this is a hunting rifle, I wouldn't go any closer then .010" away. The last thing you need is to stick a bullet in the throat unless you carry a cleaning rod in your backpack.

Also if you are just bumping the should as you say, you should test chamber every casing before you load it. Again, the last thing you need is to have a tight one when you are attempting a quick fallow up shot on a game animal.

When it comes to hunting ammo I want 100% reliable even if it may cost a little accuracy.

It is doubtful that you should waste your time and resources chasing the lands unless you are shooting a single shot rifle.
Your COAL may well be longer than your magazine can function with.

Find a load, chrono it and make you dope chart for the load!
