I'm searching for a universal decapping die to help process 7.62 and 5.56 brass in my Rockchucker before cleaning and am wondering if there are ones that are better than others? |

I don't know if there are any better or not, but I have the $10 Lee universal deprimer and I've found it to be worth every penny and then some. Good Call. I second that. I've been using mine for 7 years now. I have broken the de capping pin twice, both times trying to de prime a Berdan primer, and Lee has replaced it for free twice. Its cheap and it works really well.

| I have an RCBS decapping die. I manage to bend an occasional decapping pin, but since mine are user replaceable, I simply install a new pin and keep on going. I hate stopping production to wait for a repair part. Replacement pins are pretty cheap as well, and my local Scheels always seems to have them in stock, in the usual packs of five. |

Lee universal, upgraded with hardened tool steel decapper pin from Squirrel Daddy.
Bomb-proof decapping for the rest of your life. The combo has been fantastic. http://www.squirreldaddy.com/category-s/336.htm |

I have the LEE universal unbreakable decapper die.
If you leave the collet nut loose enough that the decapper pin will push up when you hit a Berdan case, the pin will slowly work up every time you decap a crimped primer. So since I process 2-4 gallons worth of 9mm brass per batch I keep it tight. This means sometimes they break and its mostly from a flash hole that is too far off center, not a Berdan case. While you can play the replacement game with LEE if you have time to waste, I just buy extra pins a 6 pack at a time. The cost of extra pins is insignificant compared to the time lost in delays waiting on replacements. |

I was wondering where chevelleDave was on this one, he gave me some great advise the other day, I listened to him, good stuff! |

I noticed RCBS makes a universal and a heavy duty. Do you know which one you have? |

Obviously the tapered one would be stronger, but is there any chance that it's going to booger up the flash hole? |
