I've posted a couple of times here how satisfied I am with my Caldwell chrono. I got it when they first came out about two years ago because I was intrigued with the idea of an app and have watched the feature set grow at a steady rate. Again, I think it was two years or more ago. I've used the snot out of it and really like it for its ability to do all the calculations, export info, add target photos, etc. Well, the last time I went to the range I was getting some weird readings- like 7400fps, but only when someone nearby shot. It must have been picking up interference from the cable or something. I shot 10 rounds of 9mm from my AR9 and got five errors and three at 1173 and two at 1175. No way I could have an ES of 2. So I called them, explained I was sure I was out of warranty, read off the readings from the app. They said they'd have to check and call me back. A half hour later I get a call asking for my shipping address. I've had IN warranty service in other industries that wasn't that easy. Say what you will about Battenfeld buying up all the "little guys" and then getting bought by S&W......that's some good customer service. I love gun companies. |

Quoted: try a brand new battery. I've had wonky readings when my battery life got near its end. That is a good point, however I tried that. After one of my first outings where I found that putting the chrono in the bag can cause you to accidentally turn it on, I always keep a spare battery. Looks like the new one will be here Tuesday.
