I have been loading for awhile but never for precision its all been the cheapest bulk I could safely make, Im starting to get into LR and working up loads. I bought 100 pieces of lapua 308 for this purpose. The trimmer I have currently is a Frankfort arsenal prep station/trimmer. It does Ok with the 223 I have processed in it but is not as consistant as I would like. what trimmer would you suggest for low volume high attention to detail brass prep.

Forster probably makes a very good one.

I have 2 of the RCBS's, other posters will have to tell you about the other brands.

I'm happy with my RCBS's.

Wilson, get the power drive attachment; maybe not the fastest: but for me

the most uniform inn holding the length and repeatable that I've used.  YMMV.

My dad has a Wilson. It is very accurate/repeatable. You need to buy case holders for each different case/caliber you are going to trim.
I use a Giraud tri-way for my 223, it trims, chamfers and deburrs all at once, but only works in one caliber.

For volume work, it's hard to beat a Giraud trimmer, but there's still some potential for variation, even with Doug's great tool.  For long range loading, you want precision, and that means "lathe-style trimmer."

A lot of people really like the L.E. Wilson trimmer system, and for good reason.  Wilson uses case holders that match the case body taper, so the trimmer itself just pushes the case into the holder (no collets or clamps!), and it doesn't depend on pilots to trim the case squarely.  Sinclair has a variety of add-ons to improve on an already great tool.

If you are doing  a couple hundred cases, then the lathe type should be fine. I have used the Lee trimmer in a drill press for years and that is nice and accurate.

But when you have a 5 gallon bucket of brass to trim, you can't beat the Little Crow WFT.
