What forum should this question go in?
I planning to load some subsonic ammo for my Predator pursuit. I intend to buy powder and bullets special for this load. My barrel is 16" 1-8". What is the best bullet for this? Powder info would be helpful. Trail Boss is common.
Thanks

Thank you. I have a new RRA 223 Predator Pursuit 16" 1x8. My first AR. have a ATN X-sight 5-18. I will use it for predators and deer.

ZZ. The biggest problem with your question that I can see is "sub-sonic"

I don't really think anyone has developed a sub-sonic load yet that will cycle a non-modified AR-15. If I'm wrong I'm pretty sure someone will correct me.

Another issue at least from my personal point of view is creating a sub-sonic load in .223 caliber that would be effective on deer sized game. Yes I know many deer have been taken with 22 long rifle but I'm sure many were hit and never recovered and died or carried the slug around with them for life.

Maybe your deer are much smaller than the ones around here.

If you want suggestions for full power whitetail deer loads that's a completely different story.

My bad I didn't mean I would take deer with a subsonic load. My original Idea was to shoot rats and rabbits with subsonic loads perhaps 40gr.

That shouldn't be too hard, but remember that the upper will not cycle with subsonic loads. I've made subsonic loads in 223 with Tightgroup before, hilariously quiet but annoying to hand cycle after a few shots.
