| I reload .223/556 for my ar-15, and I recently started reloading 75 grOTM and 69gr SMKs, for each of these loads, what would be the max powder charge you guys would consider safe? (Using H335 or IMR7001?) |

(Using H335 or IMR7001?) What does your manual say? You do have at least one, do you not? There are too many variables to answer a question like definitively. You typically consult several manuals and get an idea of what is top end for the combination you are using, reduce by a good safe margin and then start working up to max, checking for pressure signs. |

you need to start here if you don't have a manual. |

(Using H335 or IMR7001?) I suggest you buy a reloading manual, begin loading at the minimum load and work up watching pressure signs. This is the safe way. Way too many variables in components and rifle chambers to say "load xx grs of this powder. |

(Using H335 or IMR7001?) Listen to everyone who posted above. Also, if you posted this question on other forums, I would caution against anyone else who offers definitive load data. "But they said it should be safe!", isn't very comforting when you can only count to 2 on one hand. Read, start within the minimum, then load a few, shoot, check for pressure and accuracy while you work up. If your range is some distance away, load a few groups of progressively hotter loads below recommended max and stop if you see over pressure signs or accuracy dropping off. Go home and take the ones you didn't shoot apart and then load up your best comb. |

(Using H335 or IMR7001?) Manuals are a must. I have several form both bullet and powder manufactures. None of them have the exact max load for any cartridge. I usually pick the lowest start load( You can always go up) Another important point is your brass if you change brands, go back to your start load otherwise some bad things could happen. Ask me why I know this. Been reloading for over 40 years and still learn new things |
