I load and shoot jacketed 9mm, .45 auto and some .38 Special.
I've been buying bullets online from 'Rocky Mountain Reloading'. They sell alot of pulled bullets that have been very good and for a good price. Their plated bullets are also very good. RMR is a good place to buy bullets. I also buy bullets from online 'American Reloading'. I like trying the premium self defense bullets they offer like Federal Hydra Shock and Federal HST and sometimes Speer Gold Dot in 124gr 9mm and 230gr .45 auto. These are pulled bullets but are very good. Also from American Reloading I get pulled Federal 230gr. FMJ. All are very good and for a good shipped price. Another online vendor I recently tried is 'Precision Delta'. I bought 2000 new production not pulled 124gr. FMJ 9mm Luger bullets from them which were very good and dimensionally consistent. I cannot recognize who might be making these bullets but they are very good. I paid $170some shipped for 2000 124gr FMJ. After seeing the quality I think that is a good deal. A while back when bullets were hard to find I found an online vendor called 'BULLETHEAD'. I bought 2000 124gr FMJ from them. These were new production jacketed bullets not pulled, not plated. Back then components were pricey but the $81 per 1000 was relatively cheap. But! Quality was way POOOR. They weighed kind of the same but some bullets had a very round tip and other had a very very pointy tip. The pointy tipped were a lot longer than the round tipped. At the base where the copper jacket should be nicely folded over the base of the lead core to form a smooth uniform base was a ragged copper edge just barely folded over and as inconsistent as could be. Looked like the production process wasn't dialed in. They seem to shoot ok or at least as accurate as I shoot but I won't be getting anything from Bullethead again. Have any of you tried the above mentioned bullet vendors? Thank you VonBark |

A lot of folks order from RMR here. I never have because I can find the same product I'm looking for elsewhere for a better price. Extreme brand is my choice for plated bullets, better accuracy than the other 2 brands and I buy direct from their website. They have a sale everyday on a certain caliber, and special holidays, free shipping. That's when I buy my 9mm bullets. Their .308, 150 gr works well in 300 blk and other 30 caliber rounds. For cast bullets, http://www.missouribullet.com/ Read the article on cast bullet hardness, you will learn something. Or I cast them myself. For pulls my first place to look is http://hi-techammo.com/ Never used the other venders. Scroll down and find a list of links of known good venders. Also read FAQ's at the top of the page. |

For pistol rounds, have used RMR, Xtremes, Montana Gold, Hornady, Nosler, Speer, ... , and have pretty much settled on HiTek coated as my gotos now, combination of price and performance.
For jacketed bullets, Zero, Precision Delta, and Montana Gold are all quality jacketed bullets for less $ than e.g. Hornady HAP (also excellent). My current 'most accurate' load is with MG 124gr JHPs, but having said that, it's not much of a difference with many of the plated or coated, and I've seen no downgrade on accuracy in using the coated bullets vs plated...just cost savings. Bayou Bullets, SNS, BBI and Blue Bullets are all worth taking a look at, IMO. |
