Im ordering a Dillon today after work from Brian Enos and had a couple questions for the guys that know. I have read the notes on AR15 and also on Enos page but wanted to get a quick answer if possible.
-Do I need different dies than the standard 2 die system Im using now on my single stage RCBS? -Should I add a crimp die for the last stage or do I need different dies all together? My bench is fairly tall but sturdy so I dont think Im going to get the upgraded mount. Aside from 223 and 300blk caliber conversion along with extra primer tubes I dont see anything else I need. Am I missing anything critical? |

-Do I need different dies than the standard 2 die system Im using now on my single stage RCBS? Your existing full length sizing/decapping die goes in station #1. Your existing seater die (set for no crimping) goes in station #3. If you want/need to crimp, it goes in station #4. BE SURE TO BUY A POWDER DIE FOR EACH TOOL HEAD. The caliber-specific powder funnel goes inside the powder die. -Should I add a crimp die for the last stage or do I need different dies all together? If you want or need to crimp, you should buy a dedicated crimping die and put it in station #4. My bench is fairly tall but sturdy so I dont think Im going to get the upgraded mount. Mine is, too, so I use a regular stool and have no need for the mount or roller handle. Aside from 223 and 300blk caliber conversion along with extra primer tubes I dont see anything else I need. Am I missing anything critical? There's always something missing, isn't there? I thought it was a law of the universe. |

Also I'd just be buying the 223 conversion and picking up a 300blk powder funnel Yeah I heard back from Brian and this is what he said. Should I get a separate toolhead for the dies so I dont have to switch them or.... I would |

Sorry for being dense just dont wanna start this shit off wrong.
So the entire toolhead can be pulled out thus making a different toolhead for each caliber much easier. A powder die is on of the 4 spots on the toolhead? It sounds like I will need to buy the caliber kit for one and a toolhead and powder die for the other. That way when I change over it will be much easier. Is there a reason to get the 300blk or the 223 as the included one with the kit? Does the powder funnel come with the 300blk? |

If you have a 223 Conversion, then you just need the "AK" funnel to load 300 BO.
Every set of does should have a powder die and tool head. Make sure you have plenty of light and suggest Inline Fabrication LED lights. If space is a premium on your bench ...... think about the Inline Fab...quick change mounts. Any riser mount should be bought after decide how you will mount and use press....standing? sitting? on a stool? Inline Fab has some risers that are not as tall as a Dillon Strong Mount... Get the spare parts kit, extra pick up tubes, primer flip tray if you don't have one. Dillon is great, but the RCBS is just fine. |
