I'm getting into 6.8 reloading for my AR's. I bought a bunch of military pull downs that have the primer still seated.

I'd like to use the current (factory) primer, but how can I lube the case to resize and not ruin it when I clean the lube off?

Should I just punch out the current primer and start again? Thank you Gents.

Get some Imperial resizing wax. Wipe it on with fingers, size case, wipe off lube with a clean rag.

You can either remove you decapping pin, or punch out the primers and reseat them later.

Wear eye protection and a slow and steady pressure on the press handle will decap the primers safely.

Hmm, wiping off that wax seems time consuming. Think I'll take your other advise and pop out the primer and really clean them up good.

I like shinny! I'm hoping to have a blast w/this 6.8 stuff. .223 will be my go-to however, 68 is expensive to shoot. Thanks.

Honestly, both ways will be about the same amount of time.

I bought the same brass and I plan on doing exactly what dryflash suggested, it will take more time to carefully remove primers from cases than it will to lube the necks and resize the brass.

If it were me id lose the pin and resize wih primers in place... No accidental booms, no dead accidently crushed primers and less time too in my estimation....

I think you are over thinking this.

Use a neck sizer with the stem removed.

The neck (if this is pulldown and unfired) is the issue.

Once neck sized- polish away......................... done and done,
