Just got this thing last week and was installing the small primer plunger.

When either the small or large primer stem is installed, they stick up too tall to insert the plastic piece that holds the primer tray.

Anyone else had this problem? I'm assuming the internals need to be "realigned" as is mentioned in the instructions online, but there are no instructions anywhere for how to realign the internals....

Help!

Edit: I fixed the problem. You close the handle, lock the set screw, then kind of pull the handle and reset it to a different location. When you have the new location set, unscrew the lock ring and the spring will set the internals.

It's kind of hard to explain, but everything is working smoothly now.

Is the pin upside down by chance? I have the regular priming tool and the priming pins have a blunt flat end and a rounded almost pointed end. The pointed end is supposed to go towards the bottom as the rounded edges "smooth" out the operation.

No, these thread into place. Thanks for the reply though.

Another weird things is that the handle will stay closed instead of springing back. Is this normal?

It sounds like the spring is missing.
Did you disassemble the lower half by removing the c-clip at the pivot pin when changing the primer stem?
The spring didn't fly away unnoticed, did it?

It seems to catch from the black piece hitting the handle. I don't think this will happen when I actually seat a primer, I'll try it out tomorrow.

I don't think you have to ever remove the c clip. If you just tighten the set screw with the handle closed you can remove the spring and plunger by simply opening the handle and loosening the set screw (be sure to hold something against the spring or it will shoot out!

Thanks for the feedback.

Wow. No worries. Seems totally different than the regular unit then. Glad you got it fixed.

None of your fix is needed. Squeeze the handle, tighten set screw, unscrew one, screw in the other, release setscrew and done. No resetting of anything is needed you may have something wrong.

I don't think you read my problem correctly. I know how to install the plungers, the problem was that when installed, they were too high to install the plastic piece. I fixed it by "realigning" the internals that is mentioned in the instructions. But there were no actual instructions on how to do the realignment, that's what I'm explaining.
