| So I happened to wake up out of no where lastnight at 3:25am. I happened to check my phone on gunbot. It showed a bunch of good pistol powder for sale from sportsman. Unique, bullseye, blue dot red dot ect... All sold within 2 minutes of being in stock. Also had A1860. Do people like camp out on their phone at 3am in the morning? Jeez, I thought I finally able to buy some powder but they were sold out within a minute of being available. |
| I can't help you with the late-night shoppers, but I will say I've had better luck with small mom & pop shops that don't do online sales. I have a place about 3 hours from my house that consistently has powder. I don't make the drive, but I have a friend that comes in from out of state that passes by there about once a month. Obviously that option isn't available for everyone, but look around for podunk reloading shops that don't feel like messing with the haz-mat charges for shipping. best of luck! |

I don't have any evidence to back up my suspicion, but I think some retailers list product(s) at high prices and simulate them selling out to stimulate what people perceive is a "market/fair" price.
Especially in the 22LR market. Who are these companies that I've never heard of that are getting all the .22LR (Trop, goose island, etc) Just proof that my tin foil hat needs mending today.

I noticed the same thing with Sportsmans.. They list a bunch of powders in stock that seem to sell out in 2 mins. I add a couple to cart. Then try to checkout and they are sold out. The funny thing is that I did the same thing many days in a row a couple weeks ago. Finally gave up. All I wanted was a little Blue Dot which has been a pain to find. I am convinced they were selling a couple of pounds per day that week. In any case, I gave up on Gunbot and Sportsmans both after all that. Not worth the hassle.

Sportsman lists powder at the same time every day. It must be automated.
I suspect if it's in stock at all it's only a pound or two. I've never bought from them. I also buy in large enough quantity to justify the hazmat fee and shipping. Butch's never let's me put more than 5 pounds in the shopping cart and charge $46 for hazmat and shipping. That's not worth it. Widener's only charges $28.50 for 16lbs. Just sayin. |

I feel that gunbot is not as current as it says it is, I can see them putting powder up hours after it was posted on the websites.
The way I scored 10lbs a few weeks back was through cabelas online, their prices are not sportsmanship prices, but gunbot wasn't showing what cabelas had in stock and I checked first thing when I woke up around 6am central time compared to some crazy hours in the middle of the night. |
| Sportsmans lists powder every week day at around 3 am central time. I've posted about this in the availability/deals sticky a few months ago. I believe they only put up a small quantity of each at a time. What you will see is what ever powders they put up on Monday will also show up for several days in a row. I get up at 3 am every weekday for work so it's no biggie to jump on the computer and check after I get up. Once I saw they had listed the 2 powders I was wanting on a Monday I watched closely and tried to order them. It took a few tries before I got through, but by the end of the week I had scored 8 pounders of both H4895 and H4350 which are both hard to find. |

I do not buy powder online due to the outrageous hazmat fees involved. I buy in 1lb bottles when I find it, and sometimes I find an 8lb jug. Vince Lots of people think they are saving so much by not buying online. They must live next to much cheaper shops than me. It doesnt take much to make up for the hazard and shipping fees when my LGS charges $15-20 more per pound for powder. Buy 3 pounds online and it pays the difference. |

Not necessarily on gunbot, but there are plenty of other sites and phone apps that do the same thing. I'm sure at least one of them has notification functionality. Quoted:

My LGS sells most powder at $27.99/lb so with tax that comes out to about $31/lb, plus I have to drive to and from the LGS which is about a gallon of gas both ways, $7.50. Therefore I'm looking at roughly $38.50 for a pound of powder if I can only purchase one pound. I recently bought 10 pounds online and with the shipping and hazmat fee it came out to about $25/lb, that alone is saving $13.50 a pound x 10 lbs = $135 in saving. Seems buying online is worth it to me, plus I never know what powder the store might have or if they will even have any powder I can use to begin with. |

28 is not bad.. i got ripped off at 35 for a pound of Leverevolution. Basically, same price or higher for all their powders... Doesn't take much to save by buying online.
Granted, it would be nice to have a "Graf's" in town.. but until that happens, I will be ordering online. Quoted:

| I only buy 16lbs or more to make the haz mat and shipping worth it. I scored some imr 4227. I was in jax and stopped by a store and they had WST and W296. Picked up those too for a little bit higher than I wanted but I figured with haz mat, I still come out to .03cent a round for powder. I been looking for subs powder for 300blk. Sportsman had A1860 and it's only place I've seen it in stock. Ar15.com should get its own license and cater to their members since it looks like they can buy in bulk! Ar15 can put in options and members can buy in. When enough funded, they can order it for their members. Doesn't that sound like a good idea? A website that has all the license so they can cater to their members. |

Most powder in my area is priced between $16 and $22 per pound. If I saw a LGS charging $15 or $20 over retail they'd lose my business As far as the powder popping up online for just a few minutes, I've seen same the the thing with .22 at a major online retailer. They aren't jacking the prices but they have a quantity limit and it's still gone in minutes. I've managed to catch it a couple time and score a few bricks so I know they aren't just faking it |

There is essentially only two places to buy powder near Austin, TX... Cabelas and one LGS. Both are outrageously priced. Cabelas at least $28/lb. LGS $35+/lb.
EDIT: That's pre-tax and the 20-30min drive each way so I will stick to online. In their defense I have heard that prices have increased for many LGS only because they are not able to get large enough batches to offset the fixed hazard fees they pay for. Quoted:

I feel truly lucky that my area seems to be good on pricing and many pistol powders are available again. Rifle powder was pretty consistent throughout the shortage |

I used to think we (collectively) were being ripped off at $28/lb. Then, I did some calculations and no longer feel that way. Read on.
In 1992, a pound of rifle powder cost about $12 to $15. If inflation is 4% per year (real inflation has been higher than this), over that 22 year interval, then we would be paying, we should be paying... $28/lb. Is it possible that people have programs that make purchases for them? Is it possible people know when the new products get posted and sit there to snipe them when they are posted? Is it possible they do this to resell the products at a profit? |

They often can buy it up before it even hits gunbot or slickguns or what ever else. You can learn about this in the team member section in the cabelas thread. There are people in there getting 22lr nearly every day by doing this. |

The thing about sportsman warehouse is that they only have around 8-50 pounds available at a time. Typically. They will list it every day though.
One thing I noticed is that you gunbot is about 8-10 minutes behind. I camped out on sportsman warehouse one night while bored and VV powders popped up. Went to gunbot, not on their. Waited a few more minutes, finally came up. Went back to sportsman within two minutes of coming up on gunbot and it was gone. I don't even bother with sportsman warehouse unless I'm extremely desperate. Their prices are horrible and you can't order enough to make shipping worthwhile usually. Finding a local connection is still your best bet. |
