Is it worth buying?

I looked on Midwayusa.com and it got 2 ½ stars! Ouch! Is it really that bad? Should I bother buying it? It seems it is very old and doesn’t have the TTSX bullets.
I’m going to load 55 gr TTSX and TSX .223 Rem / 5.55s NATO, 165 gr TSX .308 Win, and 200 gr TSX .35 Whelen.

Does the Barnes book have more powders than the PDF’s floating around the internet? If not I don’t think I’ll bother to buy it.

Found this info on the Barnes web site, does the book have a bigger powder selection?
Thanks for looking.

TSX and TTSX data is interchangeable per an email exchange I had with Barnes last year.
Their book is in desperate need of an update IMO.  I will admit I don't own the book but have looked at it several times as a neighbor owns one.

That's good to know that the TSX and TTSX are interchangeable, thanks!

Dryflash3, thanks for taking the time to give me such a detailed answer.
I didn't even think about the age of the book and the newness of the powders.
I may get the Barnes book anyway, there may be some good info in there plus it can't hurt.

I find it very hard to buy books anymore. A little google searching for consecutive loads for a givin bullet and powderand i find enough for my own load developement. Your miliage may vary though.

Dont get me wrong, everyone reloading should have several books on hand to refer to. I just see useing the net and the manufacturers website as a good source as well and not needed to buy every new release. The difference in what we all want to have is whats great in all this.

Using the internet to get published data is good, something I do often when new powders come out.

Using a load that someone posted should not be done without confirming the load with published data.

This includes any load that I may post. Typo's happen.

By published data I mean from the powder / bullet makers websites.

Totaly agree Dryflash. I believe we're on the same page and would tell new reloaders to never use a recipe from just one source on the net. This is why i said eailer to compare it with several others. Hell i think we have all hit a wrong number when shareing info. Good point. I would like to get some of the older books. I hear they're not so lawer safe. Any truth?

I have all of the Speer manuals, loads were hotter back then.

The very hottest loads I've found were in Hornady 1 & 2.

These are manuals where you work up slowly to the max, not start there.
