I am getting into reloading and noticed that some of my brass is dented. some have barely noticeable dents and some have noticeable but not that bad looking. Can i reload these? (there on the side of the .223 shell)

Yes they can be reloaded the dents will be removed when fired. Discard any cases that have visible creases in the dents though.

Its from your shell deflector. Most of the time this is no big deal and 95% of it will press out when resized. I would trash if cracked.  My suggestion is to purchase a brass catcher or shell deflector. I have one of these . Lined the inside with soft velco and no more dents. The added benefit is that your brass drops right next to you.

If you have a scoped AR you may not be able to add a brass deflector. The Velcro works on the OEM AR upper shell deflector but it only keeps your brass from being dented.

The link I added is what I use. I have a scoped 20" flattop. At least in my application it works great and fits between my scope rings.....and no dents. The velco was installed on the inside of the deflector.

Those dents will fire form out as case is fired, and a new dent will be formed when case is ejected.

It's a cycle.

Okay great! I was just making sure; didn't want something bad to happen. Ill defiantly look into a brass catcher.

I use one of these to catch my brass on a scoped rifle.

If your AR is like mine the brass often gets dented when it bounces off the deflector. I've never not reused a case because of those dents.
