| When I bought my target rifle I didn't know to break it in correctly. Now I have hell trying to clean the copper fouling out of the rifle grooves. Should I clean it best I can and use the Tubb Final Finish bullets, or am I past that? Rifle is .308WIN FNH Patrol Bolt Rifle, 20" barrel. |

clean and brush with solvent, patch dry, use jb bore compound on a patch and patch it until the patch is black, dry patch and then repeat with solvent until patch is clean. it may take 30 minutes to get what your after but it puts a mirror finish on the lands and removes the copper. I also use sweets 762 on a patch and then dry and solvent and dry. I don't let sweets sit for too long before I remove it though.
no need for lapping bullets. |
