An inexpensive plinking 150grn plinking bullet for your 30-30 is X-Treme's 150grn plated 30-30 bullet.
I've found them to be inexpensive and decently accurate in my Mossberg
464, however, I load them somewhat reduced power (2,100fps) for
plinking and range time.  Best of all, as they are plated bullets, when
X-Treme has a sale like it did just last week, these qualify.

Wow. That is an excellent price!

Hell, I'd shoot those in my M1 too

I bet they could sell a ton at $.11ea if they re-tooled that mold for a pointier tip and a longer ogive

for 300AAC.  At least assuming M80's don't come back to reality any time soon.

What was the sale price? That seems like a great deal as is.

I'm thinking that for the 300AAC (Blackout) in an AR platform, the blunt point might actually help for loading them to an OAL under 2.260" so that they will in the magazine.
ETA: BTW, I looked up 300AAC on Hodgdon's Reloading Site. and with velocities under 1,950fps, I'm sure that these bullets will work just fine in that caliber.  Remember, I'm shooting them at 2,100fps in my 30-30.  However, as plated bullets, one must use load data at lead bullet levels so I'm not sure what load data will work for them.  I'm using a slow powder with a charge level that produces peak pressures well under a std 30-30 round.
As to accuracy, considering that my rifle has open sights, I'm 66 yrs old, and I'm not a bullseye shooter any more, I think they are decently accurate.  I'm really pleased with them and compared to factory Winchester 150grn Power Point ammo, neither I nor my son (excellent eyes and better shooter than me) can see any accuracy difference between the two loads at 200-250yds (which is as far as I shoot a 30-30 carbine with open sights).

Last week, all plated bullets were 10% off.  I didn't need any .308 but I did need some 200grn 45acp so I picked up 3,000 for $306 delivered.  Today they would cost $340.

Actually quite the opposite is true. I've had feeding problems with my bolt action as well with anything but a pointy bullet.

SPS has 170 RN for 30-30, over runs I believe; $18 for 50.  I picked up 10 boxes a couple weeks back just for the local Indians. The Indians along the Yukon, feel safer with their grandpap's ole 30-30 for grizzly bear than any 338 win mag you could give them, no joke.

30-30's are often passed out at funeral/remembrance Potlatches as gifts.  I've seen 40-50 Winchester 30-30s laid out on the floor at potlatches.  Them Indians truly believe the 30-30 has spiritual powers.

I bought 165 gr fn cast from a local commecial caster for $36.50 for 500. With 7.1 grs Trailboss powder they fly 1100 fps. Definitely a plinking load as the recoil is insignificant.
