What issues would I have if I seated a bullet too far out? I ran into an issue today at the range with rounds not feeding correctly, looked to be caught up on the left feed ramp. It only happened when stripping rounds from the left side of the magazine. It didn't happen everytime, but enough to be an issue (~4/25rds). The OAL was around 2.265" and fit in the magazine just fine.

I also had an issue with neck tension for some reason. The rounds that got caught up on the ramp had the bullet pushed in pretty bad (possibly the reason for the mis feeding?). I usually never have an issue with neck tension and wonder if it happened because of wet tumbling after resizing? I'm using Redding FLS die, I'll have to mic the necks when I get home.

Sounds like a mag problem and not a reload, try different mags.
I always seat 223 ammo to 2.260 or under because of different OAL of the projo, and not all mags have the same clearence

I think it's a mag problem too. I have 2 el cheapo, no name mags that do the same thing. Try different mags.

Wet tumbling could cause less neck tension because it cleans out the crud in the neck. That crud can grip a bullet pretty good. I wet tumble after sizing but haven't had that problem.

I think 2.265" is a tad on the long side. Many on here seat to 2.250"

I seat all of mine to 2.235" some bullets need to be seated shorter of course but I use 2.235" +/- normal variation as my max.

You very well may be having a magazine issue but I also can envision long OAL as a possible culprit.

Pretty much what you are experiencing.  Failure to feed and bullet setback caused by the "failure to feed".

Guaranteed if you have a problem with your neck tension and bullets are pushing into the case, that is your problem.
Take your die apart and see if there is a problem with the expander ball.  Make sure the pin and ball are vertical in
the die.  If that decamping pin is bent the expander ball will oversize your neck. I know...it happened to me.

I appreciate the replies, I got back out tot her range today and tried a new mag. Everything ran great except for it double firing once, which has never happened before (SSA-E trigger).

I mic'd the necks of my other prep'd brass and it all turned out uniform and properly sized.

I inspected the mag I had before and it looks like the lip on it is just slightly bent, which sucks because it was my only non-30rd mag I own right now.

I'm going to go ahead and bring my OAL in closer to 2.250" at the bullets were damn near touching the aluminum mag I used today; my steel one had more clearance.
