I got bored today so I chronoed a 9mm load through my various pistols and got some weird results.  I've never shot a pistol over a chronograph before so I don't know if this is common or not but i got some really high numbers every once in a while.  I would think I'd notice a bit more recoil in a nearly 500fps increase over the average velocity but I felt nothing different so I am leaning towards a glitch or operator error on my part.  I did test these at 7 feet rather than my usual 10 feet for rifles, maybe that is the problem.  What do you guys think?

Might be some particles from the muzzle blast at 7 feet.   Move back to 10 feet and try again.

Agreed. 10 ft for pistol and 15 for rifle is what I do.
