Does anyone know how to make 7.62X54R shot shells?  I use a Cut Down MN 91/30 as a truck gun and would like to see if there is a possibility of making shot shells for it to expand it's usefullness.

That's a new one on me, but I don't claim to know everything.

I would think it would be possible to load a couple of buckshot instead of a bullet, but just thinking out loud here.

A properly sized shot capsule like the ones Speer uses for handgun rounds along with a small charge of pistol powder would probably be your best plan of attack.

Probably not worth the effort.

I thought I saw somewhere a guy loading a single lead ball in 54r. Light charge of Trail Boss powder to make a "Garden Rifle". Not real good for long thin targets like snakes, but heck, a 91/30 is about 10 feet long right?
As far as the lead ball load, might be worth some investigating.

I don't think anyone makes a .308 shot shell  cup, so you'll have to improvise something.  Or it may not be practical.

I would be interested in this if you can find it again.

Would there be any problem loading a small handgun bullet such as a .32 cal Hornady bullet with a light powder charge? Something like that would be interesting for short range plinking or pest control.

No reason that wouldn't work.

You could use .32 ACP or the various .32 Revolver bullets. A 100gr LRN at about 1000 fps would make a fun and quiet plinking load.

I have some cartridge conversions where you place a rimmed 32 inside a specially modified x54R case.  Also have a second one for .32acp.  It is supposed to be good in M44 and similar rifles.  There is not enough powder to get them out the barrel of a 91/30.

At 15 feet they will shoot minute of raccoon and do the job well.

That can be done.  I have done it in .303 using .312 pistol bullets and unique, and trail boss.  Same exact thing can be done in 54r.  I use 100gr Hornady XTP bullets.  They are fun, no recoil, quieter, but they still are pretty loud.

Some of my .303 loads
