Help! I'm trying to set up my Lee turret press with lee carbide dies. Trying to load 9mm. Everything seems ok except the powder/expander die. It seems that no matter how much I back it out, it still scrapes one side of the case.

I backed it off enough where the powder disc is moving as far as it should, but I'm getting no flare and it still makes a few light scratches. If I follow the directions,  it rubs enough to peel the brass on one side.

I've read all kinds of stuff online and still can't get it working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Pics would help analyze your problem, but one trick you can try is polishing the funnel.

Have you disassembled it to see if there is any debris inside?

Pic?

Lee doesn't polish after machining leaving it up to you to do or ignore. With use expander will polish out or you can apply some elbow magic.

We did this with a 9mm fcd couple nights ago, same deal except I had to post pictures to clear up any confusion created by other suggestions.

If its actually scraping brass off and there's not just an errant piece of metal from when it was made in there then I'd say its defective, contact Lee. I use Lee dies with the auto-disc for three pistol calibers, none of them scratch much less scrape my brass noticeably.

Thanks everyone!

I polished the inside of the die and that made a big difference!  Only a couple light scratches at most.

I will try to get a pic up tonight.
