Been casting larger caliber bullets for years but just now considering .224 diameter in 55-65 grain. I did read on the cast boolits site etc. I found a "custom" 6 cavity aluminum Lee mold, but out of stock till end of May. Then there's NOE, RCBS and others. Some in stock some not. Also MB from Europe - but 3 month lead time. Plan to buy the first 1000 gas checks, then hope to make my own.
Any experiences, suggestions on any of this?

There is a toggled (green arrow icon next to thread name) thread about this.

It will be on the last 5 or so pages of this forum.

Only moderators and staff can see the symbol for the archive switch.

The green arrow next to the thread title isn't visible to non mods?

I'm not talking about the blue admin tools.

I did read that thread but I find when I ask stuff on an older thread there seems to be less response sometimes.
AeroE:  Also checked the last 6 pages here but didn't see anything on this.

I didn't look for a thread.  There are so few people casting .22 caliber bullets that it will be hard to find much here.

Here's what I found just now with a quick search:

I've been told by a semi-commercial (used to cast and sell, now just to friends) caster that .224 bullets are a real pain. They're just so damn small, hard to handle. And no mass/weight, so they don't fall out of the moulds like the other calibers do.

I'm sticking with buying my .224 stuff. Will continue to cast everything else.

I looked for the thread I mentioned, I didn't find it. Sorry.
