Hello I am still very new to casting. I have some .38 caliber 158 grain SWC-TL bullets that I cast from straight wheel weights. I plan to tumble them in the 45/45/10 tumble lube (alox, johnson paste wax, and mineral spirits).  I water dropped about 100 to test but air cooled the rest. What should I expect to be able to drive these to with out leading, light .38 special, standard .38 special, .38 +p, or in to the .357 magnum range? They will be shot from a 5" Ruger GP100.

Also I have a lot of pure (or near pure) lead but my wheel weight stock is dropping fast? What are good alloys using pure and wheel weights? I cast/will cast for .45 acp, .38spl/.357 mag, eventually 9mm, maybe .40, and subsonic .30 caliber (300 AAC Lee TL).

As always any help or words of wisdom will be appreciated. I am currently stuck either tumble lubing or pan lubing for a while if that helps at all.

Read this free book; http://www.lasc.us/Fryxell_Book_Contents.htm

Use you WW's for max loadin in 357.

38 and mid range 357 mix a little WW's in with the pure lead.

eta, find and read the other 2 casting threads that are active right now.

Go back a couple of pages to find them.

We just posted a lot of info you want to know there.
