[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Dinged cases

I started collecting my spent .223 brass in anticipation of purchasing a reloading kit this summer. I have noticed a lot of my casings have a little ding/dent on the case neck right where it begins to taper, I assume thes is from smacking the brass deflector on my rifle. Is this ammo safe to reload?

Safe. If it will go in the sizer die, you're good to go. Those dents will be gone with the first firing.

Yeah that's totally fine to reload. once you fire your reload it should straighten it back out

I picked up some brass that had been fired through a full auto m14 and it looked like it'd been through a meat grinder!! Dent's and dings all over it but after FLS and loading them up they work perfectly!!

Just to be safe, maybe you'd better send them to me. I'll reload them a few times and shoot them just to make sure they are safe to use, and then I'll send them back.

Try putting a piece of Velcro (the loop side) on the brass deflector.

yea anything to cushion it, I actually took a small clear foot like you stick to the bottom of flower pots and stuck it on mine. no more dinged cases at all.
