well i spent 3 hours today sorting through a 5 gal. bucket of brass i picked up at the local indoor pistol range for $100 figured id try it and see what i got.  hardly any steel cases a but load of 9mm luger and a few 9mm br and 380 auto.  several .45 and a but load of 40 cal.  there was a police department there qualifying. i only load .38 special and .45 so <removed> specific to Sales #2 dryflash3 when i get done im about a third of the way done so far.

I saw an ad on the midway catalogue for a set of sieve trays fit for a 5 gallon bucket to speed things up. Might want to check it out.

Seems like a lot of money for a bucket of range brass. I'm probably spoiled though because I get almost all of mine for free. I do buy some once in a while but for hard to get calibers.
