Max case length is 2.015, trim to is -.010 or 2.005 inches.

This is basic stuff covered in every manual.  What manuals do you have?

While it is true that "trim" length is in most (probably all) manuals and max is too there really is not much published data on the minimum. This is one of those things that almost has no written rule. Being over max is definitely a problem but being under "trim" is not. While there are extremes that should not be exceeded it is really up to the reloader to decide. Some calibers have very long necks like 30-30 Win while others have short ones like .300 Win mag. You need enough to hold the bullet securely.

If you intend to crimp then case OAL becomes more important and having all the same is too especially if you are roll crimping with a traditional die.

2.015" -0.020" = 1.995"

The SAAMI website lists a bunch of calibers. Drawings of both case and chamber dimentions.
I used the line drawings to build up a page in my loading notes for every caliber I reload. Handy reference.

Where are you getting the -.020" dimension? Is it in one of the links you posted?

Getting the measurement from the case drawing. Look at the bottom, the lines showing the overall size of the casing. Second from the bottom.
2.015  -.020   (51.18  -0.51)

Showing an overall length of 2.015"
Can vary as much as -.020" from the overall length.

Second dimension up from the bottom. Reads 2.015-0.020.

Yes I see. For some reason I thought it was showing both case and chamber dims. My mistake,

I don't see being a little short as a safety issue as long as you have enough to hold the bullet good. This is one of those things that has a minimum because you can't make a drawing without having them.

Personally if I had to, I would use .308 brass that was "under spec" but it would have to be because some boob like me set the trimmer wrong and accidentally cut them that way. Like I stated earlier though there are limits. Just my 2c there.
