Set up yesterday to start 10mm and tonight realized I have no Longshot. I have a metric shit ton of AA9, Bullseye and Unique and loaded/laddered 30 Hornady XTP and 30 Nosler JHP to chrono tomorrow and see how they shoot weather permitting.

Kids and I finished up swaging primer pockets, cleaning primer pockets and priming 220 cases of .223 tonight.

We'll start dropping powder and bullets tomorrow after a quick range trip with their .22's. I might dust off my .22 Hornet too.

I processed 2,000 rounds of 5.56 brass on my Dillon 750 with a sizing die, the Swage It and the Dillon trimmer, then loaded them with 55 gn bullets. I wasn't paying attention to time but I have about two 1/2 days in the whole project.

Now I've converted the press to 308. I'm going to settle on a load with 168 Hornadys and CFE223. Today is the last day of my 10 day quarantine with COVID-19.

Found a couple pounds of Benchmark at my LGS.  Also grabbed 200 LPM Fed primers (the max they are letting you buy now).  Just got done loading a ladder of IMR 4064 with 175 SNK’s in 308.  PPU cases, REM 9 1/2 LRM primers.  41.8, 42, 42.2, and 42.4 grains.  If it’s not too crappy outside tomorrow I’ll see how they shoot in my AR10.

Neck sized 100 Starline pieces of Starline 6.8 brass then ran through the tumbler with corn cob to remove the case lube.

Had a chance to hit the range to test out 9mm loads with True Blue.  Great results, so I’ll load a bunch more.

Today I got my Lyman 1200 DPS back up and running.  Previously I'd ripped out the driveshaft of the electric motor trying to remove the powder dispensing tube to clean it.  Dumb me.

The nice folks at Lyman have long since discontinued the product, but they sent me a used replacement motor free of charge.  I installed it and it's back to normal.

Had my worst day of casting bullets I think I have ever had...

Started off with my 2 cavity .459 300gr NOE mould. I swapped out the hollow point pins for flat point to try it out. No issues, this mould just gets hot fast and it slows me down.

So, I got my 4 cavity .453 200gr NOE hollow point mould going. This is where the problem started... bullets stuck to the pins so bad, I had to melt them off with a torch. So, I preheated the mould much further than I usually do, focused on the pins. Started casting, alternating between the 2 moulds. Things were ok for a few minutes.

Things went south after I added some more ingots. Got the melt back to the 625 degrees or so I had been casting at and I couldn't break the sprue without hitting it super hard, bullets were welded to the pins... I broke my mallet and my spare mallet...

I shut it down, pulled out my .359 HP NOE mould and had no issues casting bullets for another hour and a half with it.

I do not think I will ever order another NOE mould...

Decapped some 40SW

Think I'll take a break from the FART this coming week and focus on decapping.  Got a lot of 40SW brass, will probably off the excess.

Using my Rock Chucker to decap which means feeding the case into the shell holder with the left hand and operating the handle with the right.  Got out of rhythm and ended up using a 40SW case as a cookie cutter on my left index finger.  Drew blood.  I bled on the Rock Chucker to get even with it.

Loaded a final 3k 9mm on the 1050. Then I did the unthinkable, I tore down a perfectly functioning 1050 to convert over to .40. IF its working perfect don't mess with it.............

OMG the old girl was in need of detail cleaning, lube and adjustment. I am a small time old guy, not a commercial reloader. Incredible how chips of brass and flakes of powder can plant themselves into the worse places.

Teardown, cleaning  and adjustment were worth the time. This was not a 30 minute deal for me. It took a couple hours to get it dialed in. New tool head, deciding which dies to use and getting it all dialed in. Ended up setting up Dillon dies with the exception of a Redding Competition seating die.

Been processing brass for a while.  After cleaning, I deprimed everything using lee dies and pushed it through a Redding GRX die. Sorted by brand and ready to dance.

Everyone has experience to share.  Mine is simple..preprocess the brass, use quality components,  and let the machine do the work.

I have 5K SNS 180 FP lined up to be loaded. 3.8 grains of WST is the load of the day.

Finished a ladder of 380 charges with universal to see what functions.

Tumbled 3k 9mm in the FART.

Fired up the forge and made a good couple hundred 9mm boolits. Weather got a bit cold so I shut it down.

Thinking of tinkering in the reloading bench, maybe powder coating some boolits and sizing them. We will see.

[#39]
Started the day by popping off some of my 45ACP powder coated boolits.  Did 20 mags total (had to reload each mag once) in my Sig 220 and not a single failure to feed, fire, eject.

Popped off some mags in my Glock 21 and had a couple misfires, the rounds that misfired fired again when loaded again.  The misfired ones had the firing pin indent way off center, so not sure this is due to the primers.  Had one failure to feed, probably a light powder charge from the previous round.

Last range session with the Glock 21 was getting a light primer strike about every 5 rounds, was hitting the primer dead center. Cleaned the bejesus out of it and had gunk in the firing pin channel.  Getting solid strikes now except for the weird off centered ones.

When I got back got 2 hours of press time in and decapped some 40SW

The Sig 220 is awesome.  Relatively light for a 45ACP and recoil is snappier.  Still it's full sized gun.

Consolidated and inventoried projectiles and their storage. Found a 300-ct bag of 9mm bullets (124gr FMJ) I'd forgotten about.

Got to be at the hardware store at 8am sharp tomorrow morning to attempt to purchase the daily limit of primers (no more than 3 sleeves total). Good thing they're only a half-mile away.

Today finally got to shoot the Hornady XTP 180 gr I loaded out of my Glock 40 10mm MOS. Reference book was 10th edition and used Accurate #9 as I am out of Longshot. I started mid load and laddered 12gr, 13.2gr and 13.8gr.
Book states 12gr velocity should be 1000, 13.2gr 1100 and 13.8gr should run avg of 1150. I found my first string of 12gr to be extremely accurate and the avg velocity was 1154. The 13.2gr started to spread out a bit and the avg velocity was 1231. The 13.8 poi shifted hard left, the avg velocity was 1390 and although there were no over pressure I could tell the gun was running hot. I am sure the gun and XTP can handle 1400 plus but, I was not interested in shooting the rest of the 13.8 so will pull those bullets. I can't imagine running 14.9gr(Max) as my velocity numbers already are far higher than the published numbers. Can't impress to new loaders to invest in a chrono and not to trust everything you read.
I am extremely impressed with the accuracy of 12gr and although I've read how clean the powder burns, it seemed to run a bit dirty, the brass was a mess(Magnetospeed usually isn't this dirty unless I'm running Unique). Until I find more Longshot, this will be my go to.

Was a cleaning weekend.

Cleaned about 4000 223 in the wet tumbler.

Decapped and cleaned a few hundred of 22-250, 35 Whelen and 44 Mag.

Cleaned and organized some in the room. Got some orders in. Another 2 quick change kits for the 1100, case gauges for 30-06, 44 mag, 45 Colt. Now I have to buy a 45 Colt pistol.

Was able to pick up some heavy duty power strips from a Bed Bath and Beyond store that was going out of business. I figure 1 under each side of the bench to power up everything. Also, they had some display plate racks for standing dinner plates up, I grabbed a few of those too. Turns out they hold Dillon Case Feeder plates and Mr Bullet Feeder plates quite well.

Popped into Dillon on Friday. Tried to get some stands for my 1100 quick changes, but they were out of stock. So found some online at Gunstop Reloading.

Friend came up to the house with his new 1911. Can't find ammo... yup...

Asked if I could help him out. I told him he needs to come do it himself.

He brings up the pistol, this thing has a chamber tighter than... well pick a metaphor.

We work down till we get a COAL that functions, then do a load work up using bullseye and my PCC bullets.

Settled on 6gr and he punched out over 100 of them on the 550 in short order. He's happy.

Then, we threw together 4 rounds of 458 socom for him to try out. He likes that one.
