Made some 9mm brass on some targets of opportunity (water jugs of varying sizes) this evening.
I notice I am getting better and faster with my follow up shots. 19 out of 21 rounds on a 10" gong at 15 yards rapid fire. Living on property you can shoot on has its perks. Read up on dryflash's notes on 9mm shot shells. The rest of the day was spent in town buying my first big boy table saw. Time to make some reloading related things with some precision! |

Got the rest of my 350 Legend cases trimmed. 500 total.
100 chamfered and derurred, and primer pockets uniformed. Now new brass is ready to load. Ordered some powder from Midsouth. They have True Blue and almost all of the Shooting World powders in stock. No AR Comp or Bullseye, but I will be giving the SW powders a try. |

Went out and tested the 300 AAC subs out of my 12.5” AAC factory upper. (I eventually want a 9.5” version as a companion to this one)
5 groups of 10. Half of each group with suppressor attached, 1/2 without. All weights are AA1680 powder charges under 247 gr NOE cast and powder coated WW lead. 10.0 gr no can- cycles perfectly, did not lock open. W/can- same 10.3 gr no can- cycles perfectly, did not lock open. W/can- same 10.5 gr no can- cycles perfectly, did not lock open. W/can- same 10.7 gr with and w/o can cycled perfectly and locked back. Stayed subsonic (roughly sea level, 81* F) 11.0 gr with and w/o can cycled perfectly locked back. Stayed subsonic (see above) So, I’ll probably just roll a bunch with 10.7 gr charges until I buy or borrow a chrono and see how close I’m pushing them. |

Yesterday I recieved a new mould from NOE. .453 193gr deep hollow point mould. Should make for some super fun water bottle blasting.
I'm an idiot and ordered the wrong punch for 45 cal bullets. So I called NOE to politely tell them they messed up and sent the wrong thing. They politely corrected me and then offered to send me the right one for free. I knew I liked working with them! Then, I did a heat cycle on the new mould after cleaning it up really good. They sure are pretty. |

Finished loading 100 test loads of 223 with Benchmark, a new 223 powder to me and tested them with a WBY Vanguard H-BAR and a 2A Balios upper/lower with a Wilson Combat Match Grade barrel that I put together in this year.
When I was done I picked up my brass and just under a 1/2 bucket of empties of various brass from 380 to 45-70 then drove over to the police training range and picked up a metric shit ton of 9mm, 45 and 223. Finished the day with some wet and dry tumbling, took some notes and gonna set a blue press up to load a bit of 6.5 in the next few days. |

Just when I think I’m done witha powder I find out how amazing it is in some random loading.
In this case TAC in some lightweight bullet 308 loads.... Cut the groups in half from other powders. Interestingly enough it beat out 748 which is listed as the most accurate in several manuals. Guess I have to order another jug sometime. |

Decided to try my new 45 ACP mould. a .453 195gr hollow point.
Only cast about 25 or 30 keepers after the mould got hot. Just wanted to heat cycle the mould and try it out. Then, I powder coated them white aluminum silver from smoke on castboolits. While those were cooking, I sized a few more 22 cal boolits I had laying around. The kids got in a fight. Got that figured out and as "punishment", I told them they had to help me size the 45 cal bullets I had. We started using the lee APP press with just the sizer and the punch. But, my oldest daughter wanted to try to set it up to size with the auto feature, so we went through and set that all up to size the last 3 boolits. . Probably the most my kids have gotten into my reloading since they were 2 years old. After I had some bullets sized, I decided to do a small work up with bullseye and my new boolits. CCI350 primers and 5-6.4 gr of bullseye. 6.4 gr is hot and the recoil is stout, chrono said 1043 fps. So, I took the old 1911 out back and blew up a gallon jug. Very satisfying. Something nice about going from a pot of cold hard lead to some bits of hot lead going down range in a span of 2 hours. |

I loaded up 115 rounds of .223 with 55 grain soft points and 23.4 of RL10x. I have been processing .223 brass almost every day since this Covid-19 stuff started. Some days more and some days less but pretty much something every day.

Roman numerals I feel are easier to read and write on the case. I am currently shopping midway for birthday deals. Gonna have to make a big order soon. |

Yep sharpie and a custom card insert with load data and sharpie code. Piece of tape also can work for writing load data down. I had a giant box of shipping labels for some reason, so I've printed up load data for my common loads. A lot of my bulk/match reloads are in Styrofoam inserts in white cardboard boxes (50rd boxes), which have said labels on em too. I was more organized, and also had way more time to load ammo a decade ago. I also make a lot more money so I can buy 'blasting' ammo, and save my time for the really good loads, that I mostly seem to be stockpiling |

Yesterday, I worked up to the hottest 195gr 45 acp load using bullseye that I felt safe doing. Those were smoking.
Today, using the same bullet and powder, I worked down till they failed to extract. So I changed out the recoil spring to an 8 lb spring that I use in 22 tcm. 3gr of bullseye puts the bullet downrange at 500 fps and cycles the next round out of the mag. I may bump it to 3.2gr due to the super lazy ejection. Then, I cast up a bunch more of them for further testing. |

Loaded up some more 308 test loads with 123 gr. bullets and TAC. Pretty pleased with the results so far... I need to run them over the chronograph to see if they're doing what I want.
Unfortunately with the bullet I'm using I can't even approach a listed max charge for similar weights. I'm at over 100% load density when most bullets would only be at 95% or so. Also tried to do some shopping for bullets... Lulz... Fortunately I have plenty of 9mm bullets but just not what I'm wanting to mess around with. One site said 6+ months to ship. |

Between last night and this morning I loaded up roughly 92 rounds of 9mm with 115gr HAP and Power Pistol, split between 5.9gr and 5.7 gr. These were the two most accurate charge weights during my initial laddering. I'm hoping to come back with a conclusive winner tomorrow.
