Woke up a bit late this morning, but decided to finish loading up 60 of my 300 RSAUM in the once fired brass I meticulously processed last night.

Then went to the range. That thin sporter barrel was smoking it was so hot towards the end of 130ish rounds. But, accuracy was not my goal. Needed them fireformed so I can neck size them. Which I just finished doing. Had to cull 2 because they just didn't have the neck tension I wanted.

Also shot about 75 22 TCM to fireform them as well. I was careful to orient the cases all the same in the chamber. I am going to load them all the same this way from now on to see if I can get rid of those fliers I keep getting.

Went to the local gun show and scored two, 1,000 count boxes of CCI 500 primers for $20.00 each and a pound of H110 for $20.00  That's the least I've EVER spent at a show.

Still tumbling 9mm brass, think I'll call it good after this batch finishes. Still have 1/2 a 5 gallon bucket of once reloaded and a full 5 gallon bucket of once fired to do but I think I have enough for loading now.

While this batch was tumbling I even fired up the lead pot (never mind it is 95* outside right now) and started to get a jump on casting some 158gr SWC.  Could only hang at the pot about 45 minutes in these temps so I've called it a day. Only a couple thousand more to cast in a two cavity mold.

USPS delivered my new Inline Fabrication Roller Handle for my 650 today, ordered on Friday morning got today...can't beat that.

Swapped out the handle and can tell I already like it better than the stock ball, only did some die adjustments with it so far.

Will get to cranking out some 9mm in the next couple of days as well as put on the primer tube holder I picked up from them as well.

Shot some 6.8 rounds with CFE BLK in them.

~2875 FPS with a 31 gr. charge under a 90 gr. Speer HP out of a 12.5" barrel. Very accurate.

I'm about 1 gr. over listed max with no pressure signs other than an ejector swipe. Think I need a heavier buffer but I may just truly be too hot even with the SPC II chamber.

The primers aren't even flattened and it's about the fastest powder listed for 6.8. I don't know, need more data (and a really expensive oddball buffer from Maxim Defense).

Neck sized about 75 22TCM for my bolt rifle.

Then, went to see about depriming and then priming them on my 550, only to find out that it was covered in very abrasive dust from the last time I used the dremmel...

So, I disassembled and reassembled the dillon and cleaned everything as good as I can. It may be ready for a trip to AZ to be professionally looked at.

Got home from work at 10 pm, and started playing around on the work bench.

Got the 550 setup for 45 acp. Looking to load 5k through out winter

Tore down the 650, cleaned her up, and got her setup to size, trim and swage .223. Have 10k of brass to process. Some for me, some for buds.

Also got the LCT setup for all things.... 25 acp, looking to load a couple hundred for my CZ Duo and a friends Baby Browning. First time I'm loading .25, should be fun!

Also got my casting area cleaned up. I'm gonna cast a bunch of 175 gr .401 bullets for .40 S&W, basicly to clean my pot out. Then I'm loading up a bunch of  dead soft .454 round balls for my newly acquired 1860 Army replica. The Holy Black is a hoot!

I even broke out the Lee Load All to get ready to load some Black Powder 12 gauge for the ol' coach gun!

I love it when it cools off here in Fl!

Made about 100 more rounds of .45ACP on the 650.

Then I noticed that my retrograded Dillon powder measure was missing its tension  springs.

I swiped the springs from another powder measure.

Curiously enough with or without the springs it still dropped the same amount over 10 charges.

Used my fancy label maker to print out reloading data "stickers" and placed them on the 100 round Berry's flip lid boxes.

Update -

Loaded another 20 of these with an H2 buffer. Still some ejector swipes, but nothing too crazy. I would feel totally comfortable with this load and with reloading the brass, but I'm going to back off a hair. 2800 FPS is plenty from a short barrel.

Also reverified a good 300 Mag accuracy load for velocity. Same as what I had written down but I was getting less drop than expected at 400 yards so I started to wonder...

May have been some other factor, or maybe the listed BC is BS. Odd to think that it would be HIGHER than listed but who knows!

I hope to play with it at 750-1000 yards in the near future.

1,000 pretty red bullets arrived.  500, 124 gr 9mm and 500, 180 gr .40 S&W.  I've never loaded poly-coated bullets before.  Do I need to use any special load data?

Picked up 500, 95 gr Hornady pills for the .380.  Of course, I had to buy a Walther PK380 to empty them.

Loaded 12 rds of 300 Mag with Hornady 178 gr. ELD-X over 74.5 gr. of RL26 in Sig brass with a GM215M primer.

Wanting to check out how they stack up against the 178 HPBT that I load identically to the above load which garners respectable .6 MOA groups.

Interestingly enough, those two bullets hit the lands at exactly the same OAL. I hope this combo works out well since for $2 more per hundred bullets I could have a "do all" load for 300 Mag.

Still haven't given up on Barnes bullets, but they just cannot seem to pass the test when it comes to consistent groups.

BooYah!

Cranked out another 200 rounds of .45 ACP

I paid attention to the first 100 rounds I made...time-wise.  About 13 minutes of handle cranking time at the press.  I could probably go faster but I have that Evolution Gun Works/Lee Undersize die in station #1, so there is no taper or bevel or radius to the bottom of the die to help start the case into the die.  Sometimes I had to give it a little help with my finger to get it started correctly.

Sent around 200 reloaded 9mm downrange yesterday at a USPSA match. Plan on loading about 400 or 500 today on my 650 and may get a full load of 9mm in the frankfort arsenal tumbler. Gotta love this sport. One feeds the other.. Enjoy your day!!!

Tested Hornady 75 grain match HPBT over 23.8 grains of Varget in two different uppers. One with a 4x scope and a $100 Ballistic Advantage barrel produced a 1.34 moa seven-shot group at 200 yards, so that was productive.

Loaded nine 160 gr. Barnes TSX over 63 gr. of RL-26 for the 7 Mag @ .025" off the lands. Barnes suggests .05" but I haven't found that to be the best for accuracy.

Hope to see if I can safely get these up to 3200 FPS like the 160 gr. Interlocks I am currently shooting, but I doubt I will be able to.

I did a LOT of research on 9mm loads.

There’s a thread on Brian Enos’ site about “making major” with 9mm.  They have data for up to EIGHT GRAINS of True Blue under a 124 grain Zero brand JHP...  Western’s data tops out at 5.9 or 6.0 grains depending on whether it’s a jacketed or plated bullet.  OMG!

The gist of the rest of my research was basically that I already have plenty of data, and several of the most popular powders to use with 124 grain jacketed bullets.  But now I know that there are people out there who are way more adventurous than I am when it comes to “loading on the edge.”

I've concidered it, IMO it's just not worth it, when I go major 40 it is, even though I'd rather run 45 slow but the pistol options aren't great. I'll probably get an XDM in 40 with a few upgrades and mags and call it good.

Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours casting.  I was mainly working on technique, so I didn't even care if I had any keepers.  I was able to eliminate craters in the bases simply by waiting an extra few seconds cutting the sprue.  Overall, my cull rate dropped dramatically.  It's still higher than I want, but each session is getting better.

Loaded 300 rounds of HOT .44 Magnum with 210 gr Speer Gold Dots over 22 grains of Lil' Gun.  Friend wanted something that would function in his Desert Eagle reliably.

Loaded 200 rounds of 9mm with 124 gr poly coated over 4.5 gr of Unique.  Now I have some testing to do.

It was nice to be able to yank the handle that many times without chest pains.  Having a collapsed lung is NO FUN!!!

9mm major is for USPSA-IPSC open division race guns that are built for it.

not suited for regular 9mm duty type guns, like a stock M&P, Glock, etc.

open division guns are like indy cars

Today,  I turned handloads into spent brass, came home and threw them in the tumbler.

It was a fine Autumn day, leaves turning, blue skies.

6.5gr Win231 & a 240grSWC is a nice mild 44 load

going out now,  to load up some more on the old 550

Shot those, got great accuracy and velocity was good at 2970. Tweaked them up 2 gr. and only gained 40 FPS plus lost some accuracy. Diminishing returns and all that, I imagine a true max load would only get me up to 3050-3075 or so. Pretty hard on brass going that high.

Going to stick with the lighter load. Still very impressive.

Last night I made a base for my trimmer and neck turner that I can use on a 1/2 size baker pan I use for gun cleaning in the living room while watching tv. I don't mind those tasks with the distraction. The "portable" loading bench has put on too much weight to easily move room to room.

Stuffed the last of a large batch of 230gr .45acp with Berrys and Xtreme bullets.

Deprimed some .308 brass for cleaning while the correct shell plate (same as .45) was in the press.

Converted the 650 over to .30-.30 and sized a bunch of brass.  While doing this, I found some test rounds I already made and forgot about.   Too much has been happening in the past couple months and it slipped my mind.  Now I have to get to the outdoor range and test so I can load some more.

I am kinda at a dilemma, I don't know what to load next.  If I can't figure it out, I will do a couple thousand 124gr 9mm plinking rounds. I have a bunch I need to clear out so I can switch to 147 gr pills exclusively.  Good reason to own a 9mm AR to burn them up.    (It happens to be in my truck today, hitting the indoor range in a couple hours)

Cast some more of the 9mm and the SWC for my .38 over the last couple days. I think I may have finally figured out that single cavity 9mm mold...maybe. It is a beater and I was getting bad air vent sprues on each cast, they cleaned off easy enough but it was enough of a pain that I was ready to give up on this mold.  I decided I might have been running the mold too hot so I slowed my casting rate down a little, allowing a little more cool down time between pours. Slowing down seems to have nearly eliminated the air vent sprues. Working with a single cav mold is still a PITA as you can't cast in quantity, one of these days I'll try to find a multiple cavity mold.

Today I powder coated all of the 9mm bullets I've cast so far, tomorrow I'll try to get them sized.
