I have noticed that mid range loads are about max loads for this platform.

Is this normal or am I doing it wrong ?

Nope, you're about right.  My "hot" loads are typically 1.5-2 grains under max.

What are we calling "mid range" loads, aside from the "1.5 gr under max" part?  Can we discuss which bullets and powders we're talking about?  I'm looking at  145-150 gr. and 168-175 gr. loads to start with, for my Sig 716...

I loaded up some hornady 150 grain BT-FMJ  over viht N-140
Starting at 40.9 to 45.5   At  42.6 my primers were flat and. I had ejector
Swipes on the case.

I shot 2 of my friends that he loaded with varget at 43 graind and. I pierced both primers.

my lr308 gives best results only using 40gr,s of varget with 168 smks. if i push them any hotter,. the patterns spread......

for my gas guns on 308...its slow as she goes

friend of mine has an almost exact lr and he push,s 150fmj,s with 40.4gr of tac and gets pretty good patterns

Ok today I found 2 loads I like with 168s in Hornady and Speer bullets.
Varget and VV N-150  seem to work great with cci br2 primers.
I'll post pics and powder charge later.
