I'm hopeful that one of the knowledgeable RCBS Pro owners can lend me some insight regarding the APS system on my Pro 2000 Auto Index press. I'd certainly appreciate it - I tried to call RCBS tech support, but they're closed on Saturday.
I got a primer stuck, and needed to disassemble the APS feed system to clear it without forcing anything. Now that it's clear, I see one thing that I'm concerned about and one thing I'm having trouble re-assembling. #1 - Observation: Part# 186264 (APS HPT Strip Pusher): Mine has three ears sticking up. There isn't an ear on the left rear - and I'm having a hard time telling if it is broken off, or if it is designed that way. The manual (page 13 of this: http://www.rcbs.com/downloads/instructions/Pro2000_Auto_Index_88882_Rev5-10.pdf) seems to show only 3... but it is hard to see on the drawing. #2 - Problem: Part# 186265 (APS HPT Detent): There are two - how in the heck do those go back in? When I got in there, one was laying down and one was sort of leaning on an edge of the strip pusher. The drawing shows both, and appears to show them laying down with the short leg of each facing outward... but I'm not having any luck figuring out how to get them in and aligned correctly. Can someone describe how these fit into the strip pusher? I noticed prior to this primer problem that I was occasionally having difficulty with the APS strips fully locking into position. This seemed to occur when the break between two strips was about in the center of the pusher... My temporary workaround was to push ever so gently forward on the APS strip when the ram was up - I'd hear a soft "click" when I pushed gently if it the strip wasn't locked in the right position. The good news is that I've made over 1000 rounds through this since I got it a few weeks ago. It was dirty in there, so it looks like it was a good time to get in there and clean anyway. Thanks for any help / advice you can provide! Rick |

Use a dab of grease to hold them in place when installing. I noticed prior to this primer problem that I was occasionally having difficulty with the APS strips fully locking into position.
