I looked through the FAQ's and can't find the answer. I was wandering through cabelas bargain cave and found some dies for a .257 Weatherby which my brother wants to reload. Will different brand dies work universally between reloaders? He has not bought a reloader yet, so I want to know if I should pick these up for half price even though he hasn't picked a brand of reloader.

Reloading dies have been standardized to use 7/8-14 threads UNLESS the caliber is very large (e.g.- .408 Chey-Tac, .50 BMG) OR the press manufacturer has a unique size (e.g.- Dillon Square Deal B and Star).

Dillion square deal -pistol sizes only are oddball

Some of the giant 50bmg type are larger than standard

There were a few odball brands-all made 30 or 40 years ago that were oddball

You are not going to find anything new at cabellas that isn't standard
