I just covered this in another OP a few below this one.

Here's the list of needs.

You will need for pistol.

Hand press

Dies

Load data and reference manuals

Powder scale

Powder measure

Hand primer

Load block

Calipers

There's options like tumblers and media sifters. Those are wants, you asked for need.

Buy a good used single stage press, you'll thank yourself later.

My loads for .41 Magnum are

Remington brass (Winchester would have been my first pick)
Winchester primers
Missouri Bullets 215 grain SWC
15.5 grains to 16.0 grains of IMR-4227. DO NOT REDUCE BELOW 15.5 grains. 950 fps +/-.
or 6.7 grains to 7.3 grains of WW-231. 960 fps +/-.

New brass must be resized to achieve the proper neck tension. Lot to lot variations exists and that's why I have listed a range to load from. I firm crimp is needed because of the heavy weight bullets/recoil. I have tested a lot of loads in my three .41 Magnums and these have been the most accurate in my firearms. You can shoot these all day long without bucking or flinching. They are pleasant to shoot and still have plenty of power for self defense.

These loads generate decent power without recoil. They are 100 to 125 fps faster than .45 ACP hardball 230 grain loads.

Lee makes a hand press (no bench required), it's the primer seater they make that is squeezed.

The what you need list is hidden up in "Reloading Tools and Accessories".

Lee make a nice "beginners" set like this:

You just have to add your dies. Lee dies are nice and run about $30. They have a little more complete set if your going to reload a few different calibers for about $15 more.
You can mount it to a board and clamp it to a counter or table. Unless you are reloading large rifle cartridges it won't require a whole lot of backing. I still use my single stage press for other tasks even though I have a progressive now.
One tip, if you are reloading in a small space, get a tarp or throw rug to place under where you reload, you will spill powder and primers. It just makes clean up easier.

My three hand presses pull apart and squeeze together.

Not intending contradiction, just clarification.

Lee makes that other deal that's often confused.

I'll do an OP tomorrow on my minimilast, range set-up.
