Ive decided to start with a lee breechlock kit. The problem i have is the lee deluxe die set seems to be back ordered for at least 2 weeks. Waiting is fine im in no huge hurry, but are there equal or better options for a die set? My reason for wanting that set is purely brand being the same as the press. Dont even know if that matters in this case.

This is for.223.

Any other set from Redding, Forster, RCBS, Hornady or Dillon would be at least as good.

Yes, standard threads on all of the dies.

There are exceptions, but not in the Lee line of presses.

you want the lee pace setter 3 die set not the delux anyway
amazon and cheaper than dirt have them in stock. you can use any other brand they will fit in the quick change bushings

Why would they be better?

Thanks for the input guys.

the pace setter has full length sizing die seating die and factory crimp die.
delux has full length , collet neck sizing die and seating die.
If you are loading for a bolt gun i guess the delux could work better but for an ar semi you want to full length size and crimp.

If you buy the shellholder separately and have a powder measurer then all you really need is lee's RBD dies. $18.50 and available at midway now. I do not crimp my .223 ammo, but you could with this set anyway. You don't need the powder through die in those other sets for a single stage. You can download the load data on lee's site, if you need it.

I'd get the pacesetter... to me the FCD is more valueable than the collet die.
