what brand of bullet puller do you guys prefer ?

[#1]
I've got an RCBS collet puller and RCBS impact puller, having used both I far prefer the impact puller since there is absolutely no damage to the bullet.  Collet pullers always damage the bullet, you can't pull a bullet with a collet without damaging it.

Hornady hands down.
Blows the RCBS away in my opinion.
I have never had any problems with mine.

A kinetic puller works on both rifle and pistol, but it's slow and a lot of pounding.
A collet works on rifle well, but not quite so good on pistol, especially lead bullets.
A collet puller won't destroy the bullet if you polish the inside if the collet, I have both an RCBS and a Hornady Cam lock collet pullers and prefer the Hornady over the RCBS because it's faster and easier.
JMHO of 52+ years of reloading.
Get one each, kinetic and collet

Any of the kinetic pullers for one-offs.

For bulk screw ups (), Hornady collet pullers.

+1

And for the record, my Hornady collet puller has only left small cosmetic marks on a few of the many bullets I have pulled with it.

I prefer the kinetic puller as an anger management tool.

I've pulled only rifle bullets and have both a kinetic and a collet pullers. The collet is much faster and easier; however, it can damage the bullet if the bullet is "soft" or you really crank down. The one that surprised me was JLK bullets. Apparently they are "softer" than most and I crushed them in when only applying normal tension.

dont waste you money on any other puller just buy the best once. Get the hornady collet puller and never look back.

Agree about the Hornady, however, in the amount of time it takes to mount the Hornady for the specific bullet to be pulled, I can pull at least a couple of bullets from whatever cartridge that might need it with a kinetic. The kinetic (I use an RCBS) is merely a time-saver when only needing to get a couple/few cartridges apart. For more than a few, I wholeheartedly endorse the Hornady collet bullet puller.

Just my experience/opinion. Take it FWIW

I have 2 knetic pullers and a RCBS and Hornady collet pullers.

The Hornady collet puller is easier to use than the RCBS unit.

I have never put a mark on a bullet with either of my collet pullers.

You only tighten collet enough to pull bullet not make marks.

yeah but whats the precent of broken kinetic pullers? i have one. and they are slow as shit. I reload on a hornady lnl ap so my setup stay in a bushing. I be one of my noveskes you can pull one be for i have my puller setup. Kinetics are loud as shit, I reload when my family is sleep and if needed i pull bullets when they are sleep too. I have my own reloading room and if i used a kinetic puller they would be pissed.

I can't speak to the frequency of breaking a kinetic puller. It stands to reason that they break from time to time - but in my case, I used to work as a framer and can swing a pretty good hammer, and I have pulled hundreds (maybe a thousand) bullets with the RCBS kinetic and it is still going strong. You are certainly correct about the noise. If noise is your primary consideration then a collet puller is most certainly the way to go.

Yeah Im a mechanic. So when I swing a hammer its to break something loose. I had a rcbs and it lasted about 50-100 rounds. Its not the problem of the puller of design just user error. So i guess if your like me and can't swing a hammer for any other reason than to destroy get a collet puller.

yes

To be perfectly accurate, you need a separate collet for each diameter, not "caliber".  The same .308" collet will work for .30-30, .308, .30-'06, and .30 carbine,

No offense meant in my comment, but in common discussion "caliber" is used to refer to specific cartridges far more often than to bullet diameter.  Especially if you're talking to a gun store guy...

Those are the two I've had for years. The Midway kinetic is easier to use with the shell holder from the die set, than the split holders with the rubber bands it comes with.

I have a frankford impact, an old no name collet for .308-.311only, and for everything else; pair of slip joint pliers & washer. It's been my experience (reloading since 1968), that you need a match rifle to notice a group difference with plier pulled bullets. Besides pliers work with ANY rifle cal bullet, (no collets to buy) and leave the powder in the case. My 2 cents.

Maybe the RCBS collet puller damages your bullets but the Hornady one I have doesn't leave a mark on either the .224 or .308 bullets I've pulled with mine.  I can't speak for other sizes but those two work just fine.

Wasn't there a thread recently about the dangers of using a shell holder in a kinetic puller?  IIRC the issue was if the cartridge became off-center in the shell holder, the primer could impact the bottom of the shell holder and go off.

+1 for the Hornady.  I leave it in a LNL bushing, so there is very little setup.  Works fast and doesn't damage the bullet.

I have both the RCBS and Hornady collet pullers. Nether puller will damage a bullet if used properly.

The Hornady is easier and faster to use.

Homemade...short piece of 3/4 or 1" PVC pipe (as stripper piece), vice grips.   Use press ram down stroke to remove bullet from case with cartridge in shell holder.  Bullet not reusable.  Resize, if any doubt about case.  Empty and refill powder, seat new bullet.

With that much ammo to pull I would go with a collet puller. They are a little more expensive but if you use your gorilla strength ( like me) a kinetic puller may not make it.
