i started prepping some brass that i used last weekend for some work up loads and got as far as priming them using the lee hand primer and found these.

I inspected each casing after they where fired and never noticed any signs of over-pressure.
as far as i can tell, this happened when i was sizing and de-priming. i believe that the decapper punched out the head of the primer leaving the outsides.

is this due to overpressure or is something wrong with my decapping die? or something else?

Anyway to remove the primer casing?

Did you load those rounds? If not then looks like crimped primers....

Those are the marks from the primer being crimped.

You will need to swage or ream the primer pockets.

this is correct.

I just assumed that since i had done it loading these the first time, it would not be necessary the second

What are we looking at here? These look like normal primer pockets to me.

Wow!! I am glad that you were never a "noob" in anything, must have been one of the select few that was born with all the knowledge in world... Or is that just a "know it all? "  I think we can be just a bit more understanding of those that are not..

Actually I learned something from your thread.  This is a tech forum and the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

There is an option in your AR15 Forum Option which can be enabled to highlight the original poster's posts in a thread.  It shows them in a gold-colored background rather than grey.  I have found this most useful.  It helps you to know what teh OP is contributing and asking long after you've started to scroll down thru a thread.  It keeps track of who's asking and who's answering.

P.S. - Humor is hard on the internet, I guess sarchasm is also hard to do.

Highlight Author Posts up in preferences. Thanks, just changed mine.

I learned something in this thread also.

OP, don't get discouraged. You can't learn everything at once, takes time. Don't be hard on yourself.
