Is the only purpose to raise the height?  My bench is very tall so I don't need the height but is there any other reason for it?

Its pretty much for not really loose, not strong benches. If your bench is solid then dont worry about it

I'm pretty sure it is.  My bench is about a normal desk height, so the strong mount did raise it up and i prefer it vs the normal mounting way.

The strong mount also allows the use of the bullet tray and tools.

I ask the dillon sales rep that very question this afternoon, when placing my order. He said that aside from raising the height, it is helpfull if you do not have a bomb-proof bench. The stron mount spreads out the force of the press over a wider area.

This is the main reason I use the strong mount... My bench is probably the most solid piece of furniture in my house.

If your bench is the correct height, not needed.

Unless you want to 'customize' your setup a bit.

Same here, plus I gotta have the latest of everything I see in the Dillon catalog.  Gotta have the gadgets.

One other advantage with the strong mount is if you drop a primer or something, it'll land on the table top rather than the floor.  But this advantage is dubious.

It's more about setting up an efficient work flow.  Once you attach the bullet tray and the shell boxes onto it, you create a very efficient fast working process.

Or, you can save money and make your own as I describe in my Tips and Tricks post HERE.

You can also add a bullet tray to the strong mount. But if your bench is high enough you can save the money and buy more bullets.
