| Hello all, Im ramping up and starting prep work on my .223 brass for NRA highpower matches this summer. I will be using 69gr SMK's in LC brass with CCI primers. Im shopping around for powder today and was looking for some insight from the hive. Im loading on a Lee Classic turret using the pro auto disk measure, so Id like something that meters somewhat reliably in it. I have been looking into TAC,Varget,Reloader 15. Any suggestions? Max range will be 300 yrds out of a 1:7 Krieger 20" barrel |

I have used Varget and 8208XBR. The 8208 is a smaller stick than Varget. It metered a little better, and I got a bit better grouping with it. I am scrubbing Varget off my list and going with 8208, for what it's worth. I also saw a pic of RE15 and 8208 next to each other. The sticks are about the same size, so I would assume that RE15 will meter as well as 8208.
I have had TAC recommended to me for re-creating (almost) the round used by the military. My match gun has been ordered. When it gets here that is where I am going to start (again, FWIW). Bottom line: In your place, I would go TAC, 8208XBR, RE15. |

Quoted: Re-15 meters ok. It takes good technique to successfully measure this powder. But it's a big improvement over Varget.I have used Varget and 8208XBR. The 8208 is a smaller stick than Varget. IMR-8208 XBR measures almost as good as a ball powder like Tac. I agree with your Bottom line.
