I went waterfowl hunting last week in east idaho and had problems with some federal ammo i bought only a few weeks before. the  crimp was getting blasted off rather than "unfolding" like it should have. At first i thought it may have been the 25 degree weather making the plastic brittle but then i shot some cheaper federal and there was no problems. Every shell did the same thing and here are a few pictures. Has anyone else come across this. ?

it was number 2 steel shot federal premium 1550fps 1 1/8oz shot

Sorry I could not find the ammo forum when I posted this but I found it now. moving post to ammo forum

Haven't shot any of their steel yet this season.  I do have some so I am curious.  No issues with some 3" Premium Turkey loads I fired.

I would send the pics to Federal if you haven't already.

Are these factory loads or handloads?

If factory loads, take this question to the Ammo Forum for more answers.

if they went bang I don't see the problem unless you're saving them to reload. Federal hulls aren't that great to reload anyway.  But I'd contact Federal, maybe they'll send you a coupon or something
