Hello guys, I'm in the process of loading a batch of rounds for two of my 308's, and my question is, would I be better off with standard or magnum primers? The  loads I've chosen are definitely not a hot by any means  39.5 Grains of IMR 4895 behind a Nosler 168 grain HPBT  and the second load is 41 grains of IMR 4895 behind a Hornady 150 grain BTSP. So what do you guys think?

Use whatever the manuals say for that load.

I've always used CCI 200's with all my .308 loads with no hiccups.

The Speer #14 manual does not list 4895 as one of the powders that require a magnum primer.

I would use standard primers.

A standard primer will work fine.

Those are some really light loads.  Like 2400 fps light.

Your 150 load is almost under the limit.  BTW I have found 4895 shoots best the hotter get it.  Use the data from the Hogdon, IMR, Winchester page with care.  The 4895 loads there are very hot!  I run my 150 Accubonds loads with 44.5 grn of IMR 4895 which is a max load according to Nosler.  In my rifle it will flatten a primer slighty if I use Remmy 9.5s. With Winchester LR primers it is fine.  Work up to it for your rig.
