Loaded the cremated remains of someone into shot shells?
http://www.kcci.com/news/29175948/detail.html Jesse was one of my best friends and he made his wishes well know. He wanted to be shot out of a shot gun while hunting. I'm currently reloading on a 550B, and will be picking up a MEC 600jr for this. I just happen to have a bunch of federal hulls from clays, are they okay to use or should I pick up some STS from the EE. My only other question is where to put the remains in with the power or shot? I know this may not be a good idea to everyone but it's what he wanted and I want to do this right. |

Kind of a weird thing... but hats off to you, you're a good man to fulfill his wish. I would put it with the shot. I would also make sure the wind was not in my face when I fired. I was thinking this as well. I would hate to get hit with a gust of wind and get cremated remains in my face. |

My FIL did it with his father's ashes. I actually think he did it to 2 shells. One that he actually shot, and another that he carries with him every time he goes hunting.
I think he told me he just pried the crimp open and removed a little shot, then dumped a few ashes in and pushed the crimp back closed. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I would load them like a rock salt load.
Use a powder charge appropriate for a 1 ounce shot load and a 1 ounce shout cup. Seat the wad normally and then pour in the cremains until it is about 1/4" from the top and use an 8-point crimp to seal it. The gun will fire normally but likely won't have much- if any- felt recoil. |

I tried making blank loads a long time ago in my 12 gauge and ended up with wads stuck 1/2 way up the barrel. |

Plus, I'm sure he meant shot out like... with shot, at a bird... not just poofed out in a cloud. This is the idea, I'm not talking about tons of ashes just a touch I think I"m going to buy the sts hulls and go that route. Can I load steel shot with the 600jr or do I have to get a steel master? |
